5-HT3A receptors. The Ճ-aminobutyric acidC (GABAC) receptor is mainly expressed in retinal bipolar cells and plays an important role in visual processing. In the present study, we examined the effects of resveratrol on the channel activity of homomeric GABAC receptor expressed in Xenopus oocytes injected with cRNA encoding human GABAC Ց subunits. Our data show that the application of GABA elicits an inward peak current (IGABA) in oocytes that express the GABAC receptor. Resveratrol... -

with cRNAs encoding NMDA receptor subunits, PPT, but not CK or PPD, reversibly inhibited INMDA in a concentration-dependent manner. The IC50 for PPT on INMDA was 48.1±4.6 ՌM, was non-competitive with NMDA, and was independent of the membrane holding potential. These results demonstrate the possibility that PPT interacts with the NMDA receptor, although not at the NMDA binding site, and that the inhibitory effects of PPT on INMDA could be related to ginseng-mediated neuroprotection. -

has been rereported that axons which display 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) immunoreactivity are abundant in the pancreas and the majority of serotonergic axons terminate within intrapancreatic ganglia, islet and acini. This histological result strongly suggests that intrapancreatic serotonergic nerves could affect to the pancreatic endocrine and exocrine secretion. Thus, this study was aimed to investigate whether intrapancreatic serotonergic nerves could affect pancreatic exocrine secretion and an... -

inhibited IACh. Pre-treatment of quercetin further inhibited IACh in oocytes expressing adult and fetal muscle-type nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. The inhibition of IACh by quercetin was reversible and concentration-dependent. The IC50 of quercetin was 18.9±1.2ՌM in oocytes expressing adult muscle-type nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. The inhibition of IACh by quercetin was voltage- independent and non-competitive. These results indicate that quercetin might regulate human muscle-... -

such as glycine, 5-HT3A and Ձ7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. In the present study, we examined quercetin effects on heteromeric neuronal Ձ3Ղ4 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor channel activity expressed in Xenopus oocytes after injection of cRNA encoding bovine neuronal Ձ3 and Ղ4 subunits. Treatment with acetylcholine elicited an inward peak current (IACh) in oocytes expressing Ձ3Ղ4 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Co-treatment with quercetin and... -

by 50 mM KCl. Pretreatment with protein kinase C inhibitors staurosporin (100 nM) and GF109203X (300 nM), or the tyrosine kinase inhibitor genistein (50ՌM) did not significantly affect the inhibitory effects of octyl gallate on the ATP-induced response. Treatment with octyl gallate markedly inhibited the ATP-induced currents. Therefore, we conclude that octyl gallate inhibits ATP-induced [Ca2+]i increase in PC12 cells by inhibiting both non-selective P2X receptor-mediated influx of Ca2+... -

I mGluR (AIDA, 100Ռg and 200Ռg), mGluR1 (LY367385, 50Ռg and 100Ռg) and mGluR5 (MPEP, 200Ռg and 300Ռg) antagonists, group II (APDC, 100Ռg and 200Ռg) and III (L-SOP, 100Ռg and 200Ռg) agonists were intrathecally administered 20 min before melittin injection. Intraplantar injection of melittin induced a sustained decrease of mechanical threshold, spontaneous flinchings and edema. The effects of melittin to reduce mechanical threshold and to... -

Effects of Repeated Citalopram Treatments on Chronic Mild Stress- Induced Growth Associated Protein-43 mRNA Expression in Rat Hippocampus

Although growth associated protein-43 (GAP-43) is known to play a significant role in the regulation of axonal growth and the formation of new neuronal connections in the hippocampus, there is only a few studies on the effects of acute stress on GAP-43 mRNA expression in the hippocampus. Moreover, the effects of repeated citalopram treatment on chronic mild stress (CMS)-induced changes in GAP-43 mRNA expression in the hippocampus have not been explored before. To explore this question, male rats... -

(500μg/kg body weight) and all serotonergic drugs, except for 8-OH-DPAT (subcutaneous), were injected intraperitoneally into Sprague-Dawley rats. Without the LPS injection, 8-OH-DPAT (1A agonist), metergoline (1/2 antagonist), and mianserin (2A/2C antagonist) exerted no effects on food intake at any of the doses tested, but ketanserin (2A antagonist) caused an increase of food intake at 4 mg/kg. RS-102221 (2C antagonist) reduced food intake at 2 and 4 mg/kg. LPS reduced food intake 1 hour after...
