Experimental peritonitis induced by oral administration of indomethacin in Mongolian gerbils
Okjin Kim, Jin-Uk Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 2호 8 137-141 (5 pages)
The possibility of inducing peritoneal inflammation in three murine species (gerbils, rats and mice) via the oral administration of indomethacin was investigated with the overall aim of developing an experimental animal model for human peritonitis. Gerbils given high doses of indomethacin at a rate of 30 mg and 40 mg/kg body weight showed swelling of the abdomen, depression and dyspnea within 4 days after the treatment. The severity of the clinical symptoms increased with time. The animals were... -
Increased phosphorylation of c-Jun NH (2)-terminal protein kinase in the sciatic nerves of Lewis rats with experimental autoimmune neuritis
Meejung Ahn, Taekyun Shin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 1호 2 13-17 (5 pages)
The phosphorylation of c-Jun NH (2)-terminal protein kinase (JNK), one of the mitogen-activated protein kinases, was analyzed in the sciatic nerves of Lewis rats with experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN).Western blot analysis showed that the expression levels of both phosphorylated JNK1 (p-JNK1, approximately 46 kDa)and phosphorylated JNK2 (p-JNK2, approximately 54 kDa)in the sciatic nerves of rats with EAN increased significantly (p <0.05)at day 14 post-immunization (PI)and remained at this... -
Simultaneous detection of Lawsonia intracellularis, Brachyspira hyodysenteriae and Salmonella spp. in swine intestinal specimens by multiplex polymerase chain reaction
Dong Kyun Suh, Jae Chan Song 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 3호 10 231-237 (7 pages)
A multiplex PCR assay was developed for the simultaneous detection of the etiologic agents associated with porcine proliferative enteropathies (PPE), swine dysentery (SD)and porcine salmonellosis (PS)in a single reaction using DNA from swine intestinal samples. Single and multiplex PCR amplification of DNA from Lawsonia intracellularis, Salmonella typhimurium and Brachyspira hyodysenteriae with each primer set produced fragments of the predicted size without any nonspecific amplification,... -
Polysaccharides isolated from Phellinus gilvus enhances dermal wound healing in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats
Jae-Sung Bae, Kwang-Ho Jang, Hee-Kyung Jin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 2호 12 161-164 (4 pages)
Dermal wound healing is a complex process that involved inflammation leading to re-epithelialization, granulation tissue, and tissue remodeling. Previous studies from our laboratory have shown that polysaccharides isolated from fungus, Phellinus gilvus (PG) have various anti-inflammatory activities. In present study, we have assessed the effect of polysaccharides from PG on the dermal wound healing of polysaccharides from PG in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat model. Six of 6-mm circular... -
Genotoxicity and toxicological effects of acrylamide on reproductive system in male rats
Hye-Jin Yang, Sang-Hyun Lee, Yong Jin, Jin-Hyang Choi, Chang-Hoon Han, Mun-Han Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 2호 3 103-109 (7 pages)
The toxicity of acrylamide was evaluated through mutagenicity of Salmonella, chromosome aberration of Chinese hamster lung fibroblasts, micronucleus formation in mice and reproductive toxicity in rats. Based on Ames test, acrylamide showed mutagenic potency for strains TA98 and TA100. Moreover, both chromosomal aberration assay and micronucleus assay indicated that acrylamide might have genotoxic potency; the chromosomal aberration frequencies were observed to be proportional to acrylamide... -
Expression of nitric oxide synthase isoforms in the porcine ovary during follicular development
Heechul Kim, Changjong Moon, Meejung Ahn, Yongduk Lee, Hwanglyong Kim, Seungjoon Kim, Taeyoung Ha, Youngheun Jee, Taekyun Shin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 2호 2 97-101 (5 pages)
The expression of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) isoforms in the ovaries of pigs was examined to study the involvement of nitric oxide, a product of NOS activity, in the function of the ovary. Western blot analysis detected three types of NOS in the ovary, including constitutive neuronal NOS (nNOS), endothelial NOS (eNOS) and inducible NOS (iNOS); eNOS immunoreactivity was more intense compared with that of iNOS or nNOS. Immunohistochemical studies demonstrated the presence of nNOS and eNOS in the... -
Role of mucosal mast cells in visceral hypersensitivity in a rat model of irritable bowel syndrome
Jun-Ho La, Tae-Wan Kim, Tae-Sik Sung, Hyun-Ju Kim, Jeom-Yong Kim, Il-Suk Yang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 4호 6 319-324 (6 pages)
The involvement of mucosal mast cells (MMC) in the pathophysiology of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is still controversial. We aimed to re-evaluate the role of MMC in visceral hypersensitivity associated with IBS using a rat IBS model that develops the IBS symptom after a subsidence of acetic acid-induced colitis. No significant difference in the number of MMC was observed between normal rat colon and IBS rat colon. (61.7 ±2.9/mm 2 in normal vs. 88.7 ±13.3/mm 2 in IBS, p > 0.29). However, the... -

to the 910- polyglactine thread suture through macroscopic and histological assays. Corneas from 18 adult rabbits were perforated and subsequently occluded with N-butyl cyanoacrylate synthetic adhesive (right cornea) or by separated single points using the 910-polyglactine thread (left cornea). The rabbits were divided into groups containing three animals per group. Examination after 7, 15, and 30 days post-operative showed that both the synthetic adhesive and the suture were efficient in the... -

in different tissues. It increased malondialdehyde (MDA) level, while decreased the activities of catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glycogen level in liver significantly. Mild to moderate histological alterations were observed in lungs, liver, stomach, kidneys, testes and cerebellum. So repeated daily oral doses of α-CP at 1/10LD50 altered the biochemical parameters, decreased cytochrome P450 content, antioxidant status, which correlated with histopathological changes of tissues. -
