Presynaptic Mechanism Underlying Regulation of Transmitter Release by G Protein Coupled Receptors
TomoyukiTakahashi, YoshinaoKajikawa, MasahiroKimura, NaotoSaitoh, TetsuhiroTsujimoto 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2004, Vol.8 No.2 1 69-76 (8 pages)
G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) are expressed in the presynaptic terminals of central and peripheral synapses and play regulatory roles in transmitter release. The patch-clamp whole-cell recording technique, applied to the calyx of Held presynaptic terminal in brainstem slices of rodents, has made it possible to directly examine intracellular mechanisms underlying the GPCR-mediated presynaptic inhibition. At the calyx of Held, bath-application of agonists for GPCRs such as GABAB receptors,... -
A Possible Role of Kainate Receptors in C2C12 Skeletal Myogenic Cells

by NMDA receptors in C2C12 myoblasts. Here, we report that other types of ionotropic glutamate receptors, non-NMDA receptors (AMPA and KA receptors), are also involved in Ca2 influx in myoblasts. To explore which subtypes of non-NMDA receptors are expressed in C2C12 myogenic cells, RT-PCR was performed, and the results revealed that KA receptor subunits were expressed in both myoblasts and myotubes. However, AMPA receptor was not detected in myoblasts but expressed in myotubes. Using a... -
Modulation of Amygdala Synaptic Transmission by Metabotropic Glutamate Receptors
JungHyunKim, EunJinPark, DukJinChang, SukwooChoi 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 4 Pages

Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs), classified into three groups (group I, II, III), play a critical role in modulation of synaptic transmission at central and peripheral synapses. In the present study, extracellular field potential recording techniques were used to investigate effects of mGluR agonists on excitatory synaptic transmission at thalamic input synapses onto the lateral amygdala. The non-selective mGluR agonist t-ACPD (100μM) produced reversible, short-term depression, but... -
Influence of Strychnine on Catecholamine Release Evoked by Activation of Cholineric Receptors from the Perfused Rat Adrenal Gland

compared with those evoked by treatment with strychnine only. However, CA secretion by high K (5.6⁓102 M) was not affected. Taken together, these results demonstrate that strychnine inhibits greatly the CA secretory responses evoked by stimulation of cholinergic (both nicotinic and muscarinic) receptors, but does not affect that by membrane depolarization. It is suggested that strychnine-sensitive glycinergic receptors are localized in rat adrenal medullary chromaffin cells. -
Extracellular ATP Stimulates Na+ and CI- Transport through the Activation of Multiple Purinergic Receptors on the Apical and Basolateral Membranes in M-l Mouse Cortical Collecting Duct Cells

of apical cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator (CFTR) chloride channels and Ca2- activated chloride channels, but Na absorption was not mediated by activation of epithelal sodium channel (ENaC). ATP increased cAMP content in M-1 cells. The RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that M-1 cells express P2Y2, P2X3 and P2Y4 receptors. These results showed that ATP regulates Na and Cl transports via multiple P2 purinoceptors on the apical and basolateral membranes in M-1 cells. -
Asymmetrical Distribution of P2Y Nucleotide Receptors in Rabbit Inner Medullary Collecting Duct Cells
JaeSukWoo, JinSupJung, YongKeunKim 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2000, Vol.4 No.4 6 311-318 (8 pages)
We cultured the rabbit inner medullary collecting duct (IMCD) cells as monolayers on collagen-coated membrane filters, and investigated distribution of the P2Y receptors by analyzing nucleotide-induced short circuit current (Isc) responses. Exposure to different nucleotides of either the apical or basolateral surface of cell monolayers stimulated Isc. Dose-response relationship and cross-desensitization studies suggested that at least 3 distinct P2Y receptors are expressed asymmetrically on the... -

in carp retina. Glutamate receptors on both horizontal and amacrine cells may be an AMPA preferring subtype, which predominantly consists of flop splice variants. GABAA and GABAC receptors coexist in bipolar cells and they both show significant desensitization. Kinetics analysis demonstrated that activation, deactivation and desensitization of the GABAC receptor-mediated response of these cells are overall slower than those of the GABAA response. Endogenous modulator Zn2 in the retina was... -

The purpose of the present study is to determine the role of muscarinic cholinergic receptors of posterior hypothalamus in the central blood pressure regulation when respiration is controlled. In anesthetized and artificially ventilated rats, vasodepressor response was evoked by injection of L-glutamate(10 nmol) neuroexcitatory amino acid into the posterior hypothalamic area. The injection of carbachol(0.5∼8 nmol) into the same area induced dose-dependent vasodepressor and bradycardic... -
Effect of Hemorrhage on mRNA Expressions of Renin, Angiotensinogen and AT1 Receptors in Rat Central and Peripheral Tissues
MiKyungLee, HakryulJo, Kyung-SoonKim, Eun-KyoungYang, Won-JungLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 9 Pages

In an attempt to investigate whether hemorrhage affects the gene expression of the renin-angioteusin system (RAS) components in the brain and peripheral angiotensin-generating tissues, changes in mRNA levels of the RAS components in response to hemorrhage were measured in conscious unrestrained rats. Wistar rats were bled at a rate of 3 ml/kg/min for 5 min, and then decapitated 7 h after hemorrhage. Levels of mRNA for renin, angiotensinogen and angiotensin II-AT1 receptor subtypes (AT1A and...
