Thelma Rabago-Mingoa, Therese Angeline M. Estacio, Joanna Erika M. Perlas 환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 21 Pages
환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2014, Vol.8 No.2 9 153-173 (21 pages)
Long ago, Filipino games have been part of the Filipino pastime. These games, being cooperative by nature, seem to promote close social relationships in the family, in school and in the community. But nowadays, Filipino children rarely play these games. The present generation has been exposed to a variety of games in handheld technological devices that could lead to less interest in playing Filipino games, or other social play. This action research aimed to find out how teaching Filipino games... -

Yi-Chen Lan, Jane Torr, Sheila Degotardi 환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 18 Pages
환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2013, Vol.7 No.3 1 1-18 (18 pages)
In Taiwan, current policy encourages parents to participate fully in their children’s education and to regard themselves as their children’s first teacher. There is, however, little data about whether mothers do indeed perceive themselves as a “teacher” of English language and literacy to their pre-school-aged children in home contexts. Nor is it clear how they enact this role and responsibility during everyday interactions with their children. This study investigated Taiwanese mothers’... -

Issues surrounding the introduction of English as a foreign language (EFL) instruction to children during the early childhood period are subject to much debate. Official government policies may not always reflect actual parental practices. Little is known about the extent to which explicit EFL teaching by mothers occurs in the home context. This study investigated whether Taiwanese mothers of 3 to 6 year old children were teaching EFL to their children at home and the characteristics associated... -
