물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 2017, 제 6권 제 1호 7 39-44 (6 pages)
Objective: The purpose of this study is to show the effectiveness of performing squat exercises at various angles to show the maximum muscle activity of the Vastus Medialis Oblique (VMO) and Biceps femoris (BF). Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: A total of seventeen healthy young adults (8 males and 9 females) voluntarily participated in the study. All subjects randomly performed three different squat variations as follows: A squat performed with the ankle joint at 0° of incline, a squat... -
Reliability of rehabilitative ultrasound imaging for measuring the gluteus maximus muscle at rest and during contraction
Ju-Ri Jeong, Su-Jin Lee, Wan-Hee Lee 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 7 Pages
물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 2017, 제 6권 제 1호 2 7-13 (7 pages)
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the inter-rater and intra-rater reliability of rehabilitative ultrasound imaging (RUSI) for measurement of muscle thickness with changes in angles of the gluteus maximus (GM) at rest and during contraction. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Twenty-two healthy men volunteered for this study. GM muscle images were obtained in the resting position and during prone hip extension with knee flexion at hip abduction angles of 0° and 30°,... -

n=20) or an unstable surface group (UG, n=20). The participants assumed three positions in rest, bridging exercise with knee flexion 60°, and bridging exercise with knee flexion 90° for the measurement of abdominal muscle thickness by RUSI. For the resting position, the participants held the head neutral in a hook-lying position and the dominant side was measured. For contraction, the participants performed the bridging exercise with the knee joint in 60° and 90° of flexion for 10 seconds... -
Reliability and validity of a personal computer based muscle viewer for measuring upper trapezius and transverses abdominis muscle thickness

for the PC-BMW ranged from 0.963 to 0.987. The P-US also exhibited high reliability. A high correlation was found between the measurements of the two muscles in PC-BMW and P-US (p<0.01). Conclusions: PC-BMW provides clear and excellent images, is pocket-sized and less expensive than a conventional ultrasound imaging system. PC-BMW can be utilized variously and has the advantage of rehabilitative ultrasound imaging. More research is needed to evaluate the utility of PC-BMW for rehabilitation. -
The effect of hip abductor fatigue on static balance and gait parameters
Won-jeong Hwang, Jun Ha Jang, Min-jin Huh, Yeon Ju Kim, Sang Won Kim, In Ui Hong, Mi Young Lee 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 6 Pages
물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 2016, 제 5권 제 1호 6 34-39 (6 pages)
Objective: Hip abductors play a role in providing stability and movement to the lower limbs. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of hip abductor fatigue on static balance and gait in the general population. Design: One group pre-test post-test design. Methods: Thirteen university students in their twenties volunteered for the study and had underwent a functional assessment. To induce fatigue, the subjects were instructed to raise their dominant lower extremity up against a load... -
Comparison of three different surface plank exercises on core muscle activity

induces the highest muscle activity during the plank exercises. The information from this study can be used to recommend plank exercises to athletes and patients with weak core muscles. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The subjects include 20 adult males attending S University in Seoul. Participants completed each plank exercise on three different surfaces. To measure muscle activities, researchers used the values from electromyography. The measurement excluded the initial two and final... -
Electroencephalographic brain frequency in athletes differs during visualization of a state of rest versus a state of exercise performance
Lee Berk, Deeti Mali, Gurinder Bains, Bhagwant Madane, Jessica Bradburn, uchi Acharya, Ranjani Kumar, Savleen Juneja, Nikita Desai, Jin-h 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 4 Pages

Design: Quasi-experimental design uncontrolled before and after study. Methods: EEG brain wave activity was recorded from 0-40 Hz from nine cerebral cortical scalp regions F3, Fz, F4, C3, Cz, C4, P3, POz, and P4 with a wireless telemetric EEG system. The subjects, while sitting on a chair with eyes closed, were asked to visualize themselves in a state of routine rest/relaxation and after a period of time in a state of their routine exercise performance. Results: The gamma frequency, 31-40 Hz,... -

Objective: The use of chemicals for building prosthetic sockets present the possibility of being hazardous and unsafe due to off-gassing. The purpose of the present study was to investigate if freshly made materials used in prosthetic sockets causes off-gassing that would penetrate the skin and cause damage to the kidneys or blood. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: In this research, the off-gassing effects during the initial curing process of styrene monomer, vinyl ester resin, epoxy... -

2 inches higher for 3 bouts of 20 seconds. Each subject in jumping only and jumping with vibration groups attended three times per week for six weeks. Vibration was set at 40 Hz and 2-4 mm of displacement. Results: There was no significant change among groups in force, velocity, vertec height, and myotest height. However there was a significant increase in vertec height from initial to final measure (p<0.05) for jumping with vibration group. RPE was significantly higher between control group and... -

6 months and the NAWG practiced gait training with non-additional weight for 20 min a day, 3 days per week for 6 months. Patients in both groups were instructed to walk as fast as they could along a 35 m long track (straight for 20 m and curved for 15 m). Patients walked with their hemiplegic side on the inside of the track while a physical therapist followed along to instruct patients to maintain a straight posture. Balance ability was tested with the Functional Reach Test, the Timed Up and Go...
