Survival Factor Gene FgSvf1 Is Required for Normal Growth and Stress Resistance in Fusarium graminearum
Taiying Li, Boknam Jung, Sook-Young Park, Jungkwan Lee 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 13 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2019, 35권 5호 1 393-405 (13 pages)
we showed that FgSvf1 affects glycolysis, which results in the abnormal vegetative growth in the FgSvf1 deletion mutant. Further, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulated in the FgSvf1 deletion mutant, and this accumulated ROS might be related to the reduced sensitivity to oxidative stress and the reduced resistance to cold stress and fungicide stress. Overall, understanding the role of FgSvf1 in F. graminearum provides a new target to control F. graminearum infections in fields. -
Culturing Simpler and Bacterial Wilt Suppressive Microbial Communities from Tomato Rhizosphere
Nazish Roy, Kihyuck Choi, Raees Khan, Seon-Woo Lee 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 13 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2019, 35권 4호 8 362-374 (13 pages)
Plant phenotype is affected by a community of associated microorganisms which requires dissection of the functional fraction. In this study, we aimed to culture the functionally active fraction of an upland soil microbiome, which can suppress tomato bacterial wilt. The microbiome fraction (MF) from the rhizosphere of Hawaii 7996 treated with an upland soil or forest soil MF was successively cultured in a designed modified M9 (MM9) medium partially mimicking the nutrient composition of tomato... -

한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2019, 35권 4호 5 330-340 (11 pages)
The present study was undertaken to evaluate the integrated effect of zinc (Zn) with other nutrients in managing early blight (EB) disease in tomato. A pot experiment was carried out with basal application of the recommended level of macronutrients [nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK)] and micronutrients [magnesium (Mg) and boron (B)] in bilateral combination with Zn (2.5 and 5.0 mg/kg) in a completely randomized deigned in replicates. Results revealed that interactive effect of Zn with Mg... -

한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2019, 35권 4호 3 313-327 (15 pages)
Rye was used here to dissect molecular mechanisms of resistance to Fusarium head blight (FHB) and to go deeper with our understanding of that process in cereals. F. culmorum-damaged kernels of two lines different in their potential of resistance to FHB were analyzed using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry to identify resistance markers. The proteome profiling was accompanied by measurements of a- and b-amylase activities and mycotoxin content. The proteomic studies... -

Shujiang Li, Xinmei Fang, Hanlian Zhang, Yanling Zeng, Tianhui Zhu 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 9 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2019, 35권 3호 5 234-242 (9 pages)
The results of pot and field-control trials showed 98% disease control when inoculating 108 cfu/ ml of the strain. The disease control effect of the B18 culture liquid (concentrations of 108, 2 × 106, 106, 5 × 105 and 2.5 × 105 cfu/ml) in the field-control test was higher than 80%, and the cure rate of the original delivery solution was 96%. Therefore, in the practical forestry production, a 2.5 × 105 cfu/ml culture liquidshould be applied in advance to achieve good control effects. -
Variation in the Resistance of Japanese Soybean Cultivars to Phytophthora Root and Stem Rot during the Early Plant Growth Stages and the Effects of a Fungicide Seed Treatment
Hajime Akamatsu, Masayasu Kato, Sunao Ochi, Genki Mimuro, Jun-ichi Matsuoka, Mami Takahashi 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 15 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2019, 35권 3호 4 219-233 (15 pages)
Soybean cultivars susceptible to Phytophthora root and stem rot are vulnerable to seed rot and damping-off of seedlings and young plants following an infection by Phytophthora sojae. In this study, the disease responses of Japanese soybean cultivars including currently grown main cultivars during the early growth stages were investigated following infections by multiple P. sojae isolates from Japanese fields. The extent of the resistance to 17 P. sojae isolates after inoculations at 14, 21, and... -

The objective of this study was to facilitate the resistance of hulled and hull-less barley at different growth stages to F. culmorum according to direct parameters: disease rating (DR), fresh weight of leaves and roots, kernel weight per spike, kernel number per spike, plump kernels, and indirect parameters - chlorophyll a fluorescence (CF). Plate... -
The MAP Kinase Kinase Gene AbSte7 Regulates Multiple Aspects of Alternaria brassicicola Pathogenesis
Kai Lu, Min Zhang, Ran Yang, Min Zhang, Qinjun Guo, Kwang-Hyun Baek, Houjuan Xu 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 9 Pages

detoxification of reactive oxygen species. AbSte7 gene disruption reduced the enzymatic activity of cell walldegrading enzymes, including cellulase, β-glucosidase, pectin methylesterase, polymethyl-galacturonase, and polygalacturonic acid transeliminase, during host plant infection. Altogether, the data strongly suggest the MAPKK gene AbSte7 plays a pivotal role in A. brassicicola during host infection by regulating multiple steps, and thus increasing pathogenicity and inhibiting host defenses. -

treatments, especially at 20 ppm of ClO2. When sweetpotato roots were dip-inoculated in spore suspensions for 10 min prior to treatment with 20 and 40 ppm of ClO2 for 0-60 min, fungal populations decreased with increasing ClO2 concentrations. Taken together, these results showed that gaseous ClO2 could significantly inhibit D. batatas growth and dry rot development in sweetpotato. Overall, gaseous ClO2 could be used to control this fungal disease during the postharvest storage of sweetpotato.
