In contrast, most reported sources of negative affect in children’s daily lives referred to the following categories: material issues, none, family, illness or injury, and friendship. As a result, the home connection program was shown to contribute to the enhancement of parents’ mathematical interaction, parent-teacher cooperative relationship, and 3-year-olds’ mathematical ability. The teachers felt the support provided by the Ministry of Education was inadequate and expressed their need for a more appropriate and accessible support system. The findings suggest that lack of policy directive in the education sector has resulted in parents valuing the quality of schools in terms of reputation, infrastructure, etc. as more important attributes while ignoring travel time or tuition fees.
