Unilateral rostral mandibulectomy for gingival vascular hamartoma in two calves
Takeshi Tsuka, Yoshiharu Okamoto, Naoki Yamamoto, Keiji Hayashi, Takehito Morita, Yuji Sunden, Yusuke Murahata, Kazuo Azuma, Tomohiro Os 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages

mandibles, respectively. On radiographic or computed tomographic images, osteolytic changes appeared within the mandibular bones adjacent to the masses. The masses were removed along with affected mandibular bone by using unilateral rostral mandibulectomy. After surgery, both cases exhibited a normal appetite and grew normally, with no cosmetic changes or recurrences. Unilateral rostral mandibulectomy can be applied for invasive gingival vascular hamartomas associated with osteolytic changes. -
Changes in hoof kinetics and kinematics at walk in response to hoof trimming
Babak Faramarzi, An Nguyen, Fanglong Dong 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2018, 제 19권 제 4호 12 557-562 (6 pages)
Appropriate hoof preparation and symmetry are linked to the well-being of the horse. Previous studies have shown the efficacy of pressure plates (PPs) in delivering objective biomechanical analysis. We aimed to assess the effect of hoof trimming on hoof biomechanics using a PP. Nine clinically sound Arabian horses were walked across a PP while foot strike was recorded by a digital camera. Kinetic and kinematic parameters were recorded before and after trimming. Changes were considered... -
Novel vertebral computed tomography indices in normal and spinal disorder dogs
Jongsu Lim, Youngmin Yoon, Taesung Hwang, Hee Chun Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2018, 제 19권 제 2호 16 296-300 (5 pages)
This study was carried out to derive and evaluate reference computed tomography (CT)-based indices for normal canine spine. CT and magnetic resonance images were acquired from 12 clinically normal Beagle dogs (normal group) and 50 dogs with 56 spinal disorders (patient group). Image acquisition regions were cervical spine (C2-T1), thoracic spine (T1-T13), and lumbar spine (L1-L7). Measured indices were: the ratios of width to height of the spinal cord including the dura matter (CR) and of the... -
Comparative aspects of microRNA expression in canine and human cancers
Kabiru Sahabi, Gayathri T. Selvarajah, Rasedee Abdullah, Yoke Kqueen Cheah, Geok Chin Tan 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2018, 제 19권 제 2호 2 162-171 (10 pages)
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have important roles in all biological pathways in multicellular organisms. Over 1,400 human miRNAs have been identified, and many are conserved among vertebrates and invertebrates. Regulation of miRNA is the most common mode of post-transcriptional gene regulation. The miRNAs that are involved in the initiation and progression of cancers are termed oncomiRs and several of them have been identified in canine and human cancers. Similarly, several miRNAs have been reported to be... -
Comparative kinematic gait analysis in young and old Beagle dogs
Malin Lorke, Maray Willen, Karin Lucas, Martin Beyerbach, Patrick Wefstaedt, Hugo Murua Escobar, Ingo Nolte 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2017, 제 18권 제 4호 19 521-530 (10 pages)
Age-related involution in dogs involves loss of muscle mass and changes in connective tissue and articular cartilage. The aim of this study was to examine whether an age-related influence on joint mobility can be detected in the absence of disease. Five young (mean age 2.0 years) and five old (mean age 10.4 years) healthy and sound Beagle dogs underwent computer-assisted gait analysis during locomotion on a treadmill. Shoulder, elbow, carpal, hip, stifle, and tarsal joint angles including joint... -
Hydration status affects osteopontin expression in the rat kidney
Su-Youn Lee, Sae-Jin Lee, Hong-Lin Piao, Suk-Young Yang, I. David Weiner, Jin Kim, Ki-Hwan Han 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2016, 제 17권 제 3호 2 269-277 (9 pages)
Osteopontin (OPN) is a secretory protein that plays an important role in urinary stone formation. Hydration status is associated with the development of urolithiasis. This study was conducted to examine the effects of dehydration and hydration on OPN expression in the rat kidney. Animals were divided into three groups, control, dehydrated, and hydrated. Kidney tissues were processed for light and electron microscope immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, and immunoblot analysis. Dehydration... -
Clinical usefulness of post-operative F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography in canine hemangiosarcoma

evaluating recurrent or residual tumors following surgery. CT and F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET-CT were pre- and post-operatively applied to multiple masses in a dog with hemangiosarcoma. The distinction between the left subcutaneous mass and the peritoneum was clarified on pre-operative CT examination, and malignancy was suspected based on PET-CT. A recurrent or residual tumor in the left subcutaneous region was suspected on post-operative PET-CT, and confirmed through histopathologic examination. -
Imaging and surgical outcomes of spinal tumors in 18 dogs and one cat
Omer Besalti, Murat Caliskan, Pinar Can, Sevil Atalay Vural, Oktay Algin, Ozan Ahlat 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2016, 제 17권 제 2호 12 225-234 (10 pages)
Clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, histological appearances and surgical outcomes of 18 dogs and one cat with spinal tumors are presented. Medical records of the cases admitted for spinal disorders were reviewed, and cases of spinal tumors that were diagnosed by MRI and confirmed by histological examination were included in this study. T1 weighted, T2 weighted and contrast enhanced T1 weighted images were taken and interpreted to evaluate the spinal tumors. The tumors were...
