4 83-113 (31 pages)
Phylogenetic Analysis of Phaeosphaeria Species Using Mating Type Genes and Distribution of Mating Types in Iran
Fariba Ghaderi, Azadeh Habibi, Bahram Sharifnabi 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 12 Pages
2 78-89 (12 pages)
Phaeosphaeria species are pathogenic on wheat, barley and a wide range of wild grasses. To analyze mating type loci of the Phaeosphaeria species and investigate mating type distribution in Iran, we sequenced mating type loci of 273 Phaeosphaeria isolates including 67 isolates obtained from symptomatic leaves and ears of wheat, barley, and wild grasses from two wheatgrowing region in Iran as well as 206 isolates from our collection from other regions in Iran which were isolated in our previous... -
Evaluation of Durum Wheat Genotypes for Resistance against Root Rot Disease Caused by Moroccan Fusarium culmorum Isolates
Jamila Bouarda, Filippo M. Bassi, Hugh Wallwork, Mohammed Benchacho, Mustapha Labhilili, Ilyass Maafa, Aicha El Aissami, Fatiha Bentata 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 11 Pages
1 1-11 (11 pages)
Fusarium culmorum is one of the most important causal agents of root rot of wheat. In this study, 10 F. culmorum isolates were collected from farms located in five agro-ecological regions of Morocco. These were used to challenge 20 durum wheat genotypes via artificial inoculation of plant roots under controlled conditions. The isolate virulence was determined by three traits (roots browning index, stem browning index, and severity of root rot). An alpha-lattice design with three replicates was... -
Whole-Genome Characterization of Alfalfa Mosaic Virus Obtained from Metagenomic Analysis of Vinca minor and Wisteria sinensis in Iran: with Implications for the Genetic Structure of the Virus

into three groups with significant subpopulation differentiation. The results indicated moderate genetic variation within and no clear geographic or genetic structure between the studied populations, implying moderate gene flow can play an important role in differentiation and distri- bution of genetic diversity among populations. Several factors have shaped the genetic structure and diversity of AMV: selection, recombination/reassortment, gene flow, and random processes such as founder effects. -
Microbial Community Dysbiosis and Functional Gene Content Changes in Apple Flowers due to Fire Blight
Hyun Gi Kong, Hyeonheui Ham, Mi-Hyun Lee, Dong Suk Park, Yong Hwan Lee 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 9 Pages
10 404-412 (9 pages)
Despite the plant microbiota plays an important role in plant health, little is known about the potential interactions of the flower microbiota with pathogens. In this study, we investigated the microbial community of apple blossoms when infected with Erwinia amylovora. The long-read sequencing technology, which significantly increased the genome sequence resolution, thus enabling the characterization of fire blight- induced changes in the flower microbial community. Each sample showed a unique... -
Comparison of Bacterial Community of Healthy and Erwinia amylovora Infected Apples

these experiments, the infected trees had low species richness and operational taxonomic unit diversity when compared to healthy trees. Rhizospheric bacterial communities were stable regardless of infection. But the communities in endosphere and episphere were significanlty affected by E. amylovora infection. We also found that several metabolic pathways differ significantly between infected and healthy trees. In particular, we observed differences in sugar metabolites. The finding provides that... -
Medicago truncatula in Interaction with Fusarium and Rhizoctonia Phytopathogenic Fungi: Fungal Aggressiveness, Plant Response Biodiversity and Character Heritability Indices
Marwa Batnini, Imen Haddoudi, Wael Taamali, Naceur Djebali, Mounawer Badri, Moncef Mrabet, Haythem Mhadhbi 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 14 Pages
1 315-328 (14 pages)
Fusarium and Rhizoctonia genera are important patho- gens of many field crops worldwide. They are constant- ly evolving and expanding their host range. Selecting resistant cultivars is an effective strategy to break their infection cycles. To this end, we screened a collection of Medicago truncatula accessions against Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium solani, and Rhizoctonia solani strains isolated from different plant species. Despite the small collection, a biodiversity in the disease response of... -
Bacterial Community Structure and the Dominant Species in Imported Pollens for Artificial Pollination
Su-Hyeon Kim, Heeil Do, Gyeongjun Cho, Da-Ran Kim, Youn-Sig Kwak The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
9 299-306 (8 pages)
Pollination is an essential process for plants to carry on their generation. Pollination is carried out in various ways depending on the type of plant species. Among them, pollination by insect pollinator accounts for the most common. However, these pollinators have be decreasing in population density due to environmen- tal factors. Therefore, use of artificial pollination is increasing. However, there is a lack of information on microorganisms present in the artificial pollens. We showed the... -

genus of the Luteoviridae family. SCYLV is the major limitation to sugarcane production worldwide and presently occurring in most of the sugarcane growing countries. SCYLV having high genetic diversity within the species and presently ten genotypes are known to occur based on the complete genome sequence information. SCYLV is present in almost all the states of India where sugarcane is grown. Virion comprises of 180 coat protein units and are 24-29 nm in diameter. The genome of SCYLV is a... -
Variability of Stem-Base Infestation and Coexistence of Fusarium spp. Causing Crown Rot of Winter Wheat in Serbia

2 553-563 (11 pages)
Given that there were no reports on the diversity of Fusarium species causing crown rot of wheat in Serbia, this study presents first report on this important subject. It also indicated that more attention should be focused on combined effects of abiotic and biotic factors influencing stem-base infestation of winter wheat. This knowledge will contribute to better understanding of factors influencing root and crown rot of wheat which would ensure sustainable disease management in the future.
