대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 2호 5 123-125 (3 pages)
The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of Fasciola gigantica excretory secretory antigen (Fg-ESA) on rat hematological indices. Fg-ESA was prepared by keeping thoroughly washed 40 F. gigantica flukes in 100 ml phosphate buffer saline (PBS) for 2 h at 37°C, and centrifuging the supernatant at 12,000 g at 4 °C for 30 min. The protein content of Fg-ESA was adjusted to 1.8 mg/ml. The rats were randomly divided into two groups of six rats each. Rats in group A received 0.5 ml of... -

would be suitable for rapid and simple screening of kanamycin residues in veterinary medicine. Screened positives can be confirmed using a more sensitive laboratory method such as competitive direct ELISA. Therefore, the assays developed in this study could be used to complement each other as well as other laboratory findings. Moreover, instead of slaughtering the animals to obtain test samples, these methods could be applied to determine kanamycin concentration in the plasma of live animals. -
Topical application of epidermal growth factor accelerates wound healing by myofibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis in rat
Young-Bae Kwon, Hyun-Woo Kim, Dae-Hyun Roh, Seo-Yeon Yoon, Rong-Min Baek, Jeum -Yong Kim, HaeYong Kweon, Kwang-Gill Lee, Young-H 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 2호 2 105-109 (5 pages)
Recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) stimulates the proliferation and migration of epithelial cells in human cell culture systems and animal models of partial-thickness skin wounds. This study investigated the effect of a topical rhEGF ointment on the rate of wound healing and skin re-epithelialization in a rat full thickness wound model, and verified whether or not the rhEGF treatment affected both myofibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis in the dermis. When rhEGF (10... -
Immunohistochemical study of caveolin-1 and -2 in the rat retina
Heechul Kim, Taeki Lee, Jeeyoung Lee, Meejung Ahn, Changjong Moon, Myung Bok Wie, Taekyun Shin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 2호 1 101-104 (4 pages)
The expression of caveolin-1 and -2 in the retina was examined; Western blot analysis showed that both were present. Immunohistochemistry indicated that caveolin-1 was expressed in the majority of retinal layers, including the ganglion cell layer, inner plexiform layer, outer plexiform layer, and in the vascular endothelial cells of the retina. Caveolin-2 was primarily immunostained in the vessels, but in a few other elements as well. This is the first demonstration of caveolin differential... -
Practical tips for modified dorsolumbar epidural anesthesia in cattle
Inhyung Lee, Norio Yamagishi, Kenji Oboshi, Naoki Sasaki, Haruo Yamada 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 1호 12 69-72 (4 pages)
Segmental dorsolumbar epidural anesthesia has been considered difficult to perform. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not it is difficult for beginners to learn how to do modified dorsolumbar epidural anesthesia of cattle. Thirty cattle were divided into two groups, young (n = 8) and adult (n = 22), according to their age and body weight, and 0.12% new methylene blue (NMB) was injected into the first interlumbar (L1?L2) epidural space by four fifth-year veterinary school... -
Concurrent response to challenge infection with Cryptosporidium parvum in immunosuppressed C57BL/6N mice
Chan-Gu Surl , Hyeon-Cheol Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 1호 8 47-51 (5 pages)
We investigated the response to challenge infection with Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts in immunosuppressed C57BL/6N mice.In the primary infection, fecal oocyst shedding and parasite colonization were greater in immunosuppressed mice than in nonimmunosuppressed mice.Compared with primary infection, challenge infection with C.parvum didn 't show any oocyst shedding and parasite colonization.Especially, oocyst shedding and parasite colonization from the mice infected with heat- killed oocysts were... -

대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 1호 7 43-46 (4 pages)
Infectious bursal disease (IBD)is an acute and highly contagious disease of young chickens caused by Birnavirus. Mortality of infected birds can be best prevented if injected with antibodies. The present study was an attempt to raise specific hyper-immune polyclonal antibodies against IBD virus in Pakistan.Commercial layers divided into four groups were injected with IBD vaccine subcutaneously according to four different treatment regimens.Eggs were collected daily and antibodies were purified... -
pH-dependent modulation of intracellular free magnesium ions with ion- selective electrodes in papillary muscle of guinea pig
Shang-Jin Kim, In-Gook Cho, Hyung-Sub Kang, Jin-Shang Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 1호 5 31-36 (6 pages)
A change in pH can alter the intracellular concentration of electrolytes such as intracellular Ca2+ and Na+ ([Na+]i) that are important for the cardiac function. For the determination of the role of pH in the cardiac magnesium homeostasis, the intracellular Mg 2+ concentration ([Mg 2+]i), membrane potential and contraction in the papillary muscle of guinea pigs using ion-selective electrodes changing extracellular pH ([pH]o)or intracellular pH ([pH ]i )were measured in this study. A high... -
