Analysis of ultrastructural glomerular basement membrane lesions and podocytes associated with proteinuria and sclerosis in Osborne-Mendel rats with progressive glomerulonephropathy
Kyohei Yasuno, Junichi Kamiie, Kinji Shirota* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 2호 15 223-226 (4 pages)
podocyte foot processes (FPs) developed at 3 weeks of age and became progressively worse over time. Loss or dislocation of the slit membrane was also found. Vacuoles and osmiophilic lysosomes appeared in the podocytes starting at 6 weeks of age. Podocyte detachment from the glomerular basement membrane (GBM) was apparent at 18 weeks of age. Laminated GBM was occasionally observed in all animals. These features might lead to the development of spontaneous proteinuria and glomerulosclerosis in OM... -
A survey of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome among wild boar populations in Korea
Eun-Jin Choi, Chang-Hee Lee, Bang-Hun Hyun, Jae-Jo Kim, Seong-In Lim, Jae-Young Song, Yeun-Kyung Shin* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 4호 7 377-383 (7 pages)
No information is currently available on porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) infection in wild boars (Sus scrofa) in Korea. In this study, the status of PRRS in wild boars was investigated. Blood samples were collected from 267 wild boars from eight provinces in Korea. Four of the samples tested (1.5%) were positive for PRRSV antibodies and eight (3.0%) were positive for antigens. Of the virus-positive samples, three and five samples were typed as containing European (EU,... -
Frequency of group A rotavirus with mixed G and P genotypes in bovines: predominance of G3 genotype and its emergence in combination with G8/G10 types
Yashpal S. Malik*, Kuldeep Sharma, Nirupama Vaid, Somendu Chakravarti, K. M. Chandrashekar, Sanjay S. Basera, Rashmi Singh, Mina 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 3호 8 271-278 (8 pages)
The present study describes the genotypic distribution of rotaviruses (RVs) in an Indian bovine population with unexpectedly higher proportions of G3 alone or in combination of G8/G10. PCR-genotyping confirmed that 39.4% (13/33) of the prevalent RVs were the G3 type while 60.6% (20/33) were dual G3G10 or G3G8 types. P typing revealed that 93.9% (31/33) of the samples were P[11] while 6.1% (2/33) possessed a dual P[1]P[11] type. Sequence analysis of the VP7 gene from G3 strains viz. B-46, 0970,... -
Pathogenicity and antigenicity of a new variant of Korean nephropathogenic infectious bronchitis virus
Kang-Seuk Choi*, Eun-Kyoung Lee, Woo-Jin Jeon, Mi-Ja Park, Jin-Won Kim, Jun-Hun Kwon 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 4호 14 357-359 (3 pages)
Despite the existence of an active vaccination program, recently emerged strains of nephropathogenic infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) in Korea have caused significant economic losses in the poultry industry. In this study, we assessed the pathogenic and antigenic characteristics of a K-IIb type field strain of IBV that emerged in Korea since 2003, such as Kr/Q43/06. Specific pathogen free 1-week- old chickens exhibited severe respiratory symptoms (dyspnea) and nephropathogenic lesions (swollen... -
Detection of betanodaviruses in apparently healthy aquarium fishes and invertebrates
Dennis Kaw Gomez, Dong Joo Lim, Gun Wook Baeck, Hee Jeong Youn, Nam Shik Shin, Hwa Young Youn, Cheol Yong Hwang, Jun Hong Park, 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 4호 11 369-374 (6 pages)
Betanodaviruses are the causative agents of viral nervous necrosis (VNN) in cultured marine fish. A total of 237 apparently healthy aquarium fish, marine (65 species) and freshwater (12 species) fishes and marine invertebrates (4 species), which were stocked in a commercial aquarium in Seoul, South Korea, were collected from November 2005 to February 2006. The brains of the fish and other tissues of the invertebrates were examined by reverse transcriptasepolymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and... -
BSE situation and establishment of Food Safety Commission in Japan
Takashi Onodera, Chi-Kyeong Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 11 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 1호 1 1-11 (11 pages)
Eight major policies were implemented by Japanese Government since Oct.2001, to deal with bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).These are;1)Surveillance in farm by veterinarian, 2)Prion test at healthy 1.3mi cows/yr, by veterinarian, 3)Elimination of specified risk material (SRM), 4)Ban of MBM for production, sale use, 5)Prion test for fallen stocks, 6)Transparent information and traceability, 7)New Measures such as Food Safety Basic Law, and 8)Establish of Food Safety Commission in the Cabinet... -
Human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells engineered to overexpress growth factors accelerate outcomes in hair growth
Dong Ho Bak, Mi Ji Choi, Soon Re Kim, Byung Chul Lee, Jae Min Kim, Eun Su Jeon, Wonil Oh, Ee Seok Lim, Byung Cheol Park, Moo Joong Kim, Ju 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 12 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2018, Vol.22 No.5 9 555-566 (12 pages)
Human umbilical cord blood mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs) are used in tissue repair and regeneration; however, the mechanisms involved are not well understood. We investigated the hair growth-promoting effects of hUCB-MSCs treatment to determine whether hUCB-MSCs enhance the promotion of hair growth. Furthermore, we attempted to identify the factors responsible for hair growth. The effects of hUCB-MSCs on hair growth were investigated in vivo, and hUCB-MSCs advanced anagen onset and hair... -
Tetramethylpyrazine reverses anxiety-like behaviors in a rat model of post-traumatic stress disorder
Bombi Lee, Insop Shim, Hyejung Lee, Dae-Hyun Hahm 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 14 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2018, Vol.22 No.5 6 525-538 (14 pages)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a trauma-induced psychiatric disorder characterized by impaired fear extermination, hyperarousal, and anxiety that may involve the release of monoamines in the fear circuit. The reported pharmacological properties of tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) include anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-atherosclerotic, and neuropsychiatric activities. However, the anxiolytic-like effects of TMP and its mechanism of action in PTSD are unclear. This study measured several...
