Feasibility of utilizing the patellar ligament angle for assessing cranial cruciate ligament rupture in dogs
Jung-ha Lee, Soon-wuk Jeong 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2014, 제 15권 제 4호 8 563-568 (6 pages)
The patellar ligament angle (PLA) was assessed in 105 normal stifle joints of 79 dogs and 33 stifle joints of 26 dogs with a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL). The PLA of stifles with complete CrCL rupture was significantly lower than that of normal stifles, particularly at a flexion angle of 60∼80o in both plain and stress views. If the PLA was <90.55o on the stress view with a 60∼80o flexion angle, the dog was diagnosed with a complete rupture of the CrCL with a sensitivity of 83.9%... -

Min-Hee Kang, Min-Joo Chae, Jang-Won Yoon, Seung-Gon Kim, So-Young Lee, Jong-Hyun Yoo, Hee-Myung Park* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2014, 제 15권 제 3호 9 409-415 (7 pages)
The prevalence, virulence potential, and antibiotic resistance of ophthalmic Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (SP) isolated from dogs were examined. Sixty-seven Staphylococcus species were isolated from ophthalmic samples and surveyed for species-specific sequences in the Staphylococcus intermedius group (SIG) nuclease gene (SInuc), exfoliative toxin gene for SIG (siet), and antibiotic resistance genes (blaZ and mecA). PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of the pta gene was also... -

that treated with CpG ODN alone, but significantly higher than mice that did not receive CpG ODN. PCV-2 load after challenge in the combined immunization group was significantly lower than that in the phosphate-buffered saline placebo group and approximately 7-fold lower in the group treated with CpG ODN alone. These results indicate that rAd/Cap/518 combined with CpG ODN can enhance systemic and local mucosal immunity in mice, and represent a promising synergetic mucosal vaccine against PCV-2. -

Enrico Bigliardi*, Carla Bresciani, Daniela Callegari, Francesco Di Ianni, Giorgio Morini, Enrico Parmigiani, Ezio Bianchi 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2014, 제 15권 제 2호 13 267-271 (5 pages)
Insulin resistance (IR) in dogs is suspected when hyperglycemia is present despite administration of insulin doses greater than 1.0 to 1.5 UI/kg. IR is caused by increases in counter regulatory hormones concentrations (glucagon, glucocorticoids, catecholamines and growth hormone). This study was conducted to investigate the use of aglepristone (RU 46534), a P4 receptor antagonist, for the treatment of IR diabetes mellitus in bitches during the luteal phase. All animals were treated with porcine... -
Relationship between pregnancy rate and serum progesterone concentration in cases of porcine embryo transfer
JoonHo Moon, Ji-Yei Choi, Jung-Taek Kang, Sol Ji Park, Su Jin Kim, Goo Jang, Byeong Chun Lee* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2014, 제 15권 제 1호 20 167-171 (5 pages)
The level of P4 at the time of embryo transfer (ET) is important. P4 concentrations and numbers of corpora lutea for 126 recipients were evaluated. Nuclear transfer embryos were transferred into 126 surrogates. 11 maintained their pregnancy until full-term delivery, 17 miscarried, and implantation failed in 98 animals. P4 levels in the full-term group were significantly different from those of the pigs that aborted or in which implantation failed (p < 0.05). However, the numbers of corpora... -
Morphology and histology of the adult Paramphistomum gracile Fischoeder, 1901
Busaba Panyarachun, Arin Ngamniyom, Prasert Sobhon, Panat Anuracpreeda 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 4호 8 425-432 (8 pages)
In the present study, we evaluated the histological morphology of the adult Paramphistomum(P.)gracile. Adult flukes with bodies 5∼15 mm in length and 2∼7 mm in width were subjected to histological analysis. Longitudinal and transversal serial-sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, and examined. The body surface and longitudinal section of P.gracile were also assessed using scanning electron microscopy. In this species, the anterior sucker and posterior sucker (acetabulum) were... -

This study was conducted to establish an in vitro maturation (IVM) system by selection of efficient porcine serum during porcine in vitro production. To investigate the efficient porcine serum (PS), different types of PS [newborn pig serum, prepubertal gilt serum (PGS), estrus sow serum, and pregnancy sow serum] were used to supplement IVM media with or without gonadotrophin (GTH) and development rates of parthenogenetic activation (PA) and in vitro fertilization (IVF) embryos were then... -
Quercetin improves the in vitro development of porcine oocytes by decreasing reactive oxygen species levels
Jung-Taek Kang, Dae-Kee Kwon, Sol-Ji Park, Su-Jin Kim, Joon-Ho Moon, Ok-Jae Koo, Goo Jang, Byeong-Chun Lee* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 1호 3 15-20 (6 pages)
Quercetin is a plant-derived flavonoid found in fruits or vegetables that has antioxidant properties and acts as a free radical scavenger. We investigated the effects of quercetin on porcine oocyte nuclear maturation and embryonic development after parthenogenetic activation. We then evaluated the antioxidant activities of quercetin by measuring reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in matured oocytes. Immature oocytes were untreated or treated with 1, 10, and 50 ug/mL quercetin during in vitro... -
