Tissue distribution of bovine viral diarrhea virus antigens in persistently infected cattle
Taekyun Shin, Helen Acland 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 2호 2 81-84 (4 pages)
detection of BVDV showed that BVDV antigens were detected in both epithelial and nonepithelial cells in all examined organs, including the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, lung, lymphatic organs (spleen, lymph nodes), adrenal gland, ovary, uterus, and the mammary gland. These findings support the hypothesis that animals with persistent BVDV infection spread BVDV through all routes, and that infertility in BVDV infection is associated with the infection of BVDV in the ovaries and uteri. -
Study on mechanism of multistep hepatotumorigenesis in rat: development of hepatotumorigenesis
Woo-song Ha, Chi-kyeong Kim, Seung-hee Song, Chung-boo Kang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 1호 9 53-58 (6 pages)
With the aim of establishing bio-indices for the development of multistep hepatotumorigenesis, rats were fed water containing 0.01% diethylnitrosamine (DEN) ad libitum for 13 weeks. This treatment with DEN only made it possible to induce hepatic tumors in 100%. After the DEN administration, several clinical symptoms were observed including minor behavioral changes, brittleness of hair and a decrease in water and food intake. The concentration of total serum protein and albumin in all treated... -
Effect of ethylene glycol monoethyl ether on the spermatogenesis in pubertal and adult rats

of body weight. The animals were administered by gavage for 4 weeks. In adult rats, the treatment of EGEE at the dose of 400 mg/kg of body weight decreased significantly the populations of haploid, while it increased those of diploid and tetraploid cells. In pubertal rats, the treatment of EGEE at the dose of 400 mg/kg of body weight caused only minimal changes in the relative percent of testicular cell types. These results suggest that the effects of EGEE on testicular function in pubertal rats... -
Flow cytometric evaluation on the age-dependent changes of testicular DNA contents in rats
Chang Yong Yoon, Choong Man Hong, Yong-Yeon Cho, Ji Young Song, I Jin Hong, Dae Hyun Cho, Beom Jun Lee, Hee Jong Song, Cheol Kyu 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 1호 7 43-46 (4 pages)
An age-dependent cellular change of DNA contents in the testis of Sprague-Dawley rats was investigated by flow-cytometric method. Testicular cell suspensions at the age of 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 16 and 26 weeks were prepared and stained with propidium iodide. The relative proportions in the number of mature and immature haploid (1n), diploid (2n), S-phase and tetraploid (4n) cells were calculated. The proportion in the number of mature haploid cells was sharply increased to the age of 10 weeks... -
Immunohistochemical detection of Prion protein (PrP-Sc) and epidemiological study of BSE in Korea

animals with TSEs. In this study, clinical and epidemiological examinations of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) were conducted in Korea. During the investigated period, none of the cattle exhibited typical clinical signs of BSE, such as behavioral disturbances, high sensitivity, and abnormal locomotion. Immunohistochemical analysis and western immunoblotting were established to detect PrP-Sc in the brain tissue using monoclonal antibody (MAb) F89/160.1.5, produced by immunizing mice with a... -
Immunostimulatory effects of anionic alkali mineral complex solution Barodon in porcine lymphocytes
Byung Woo Yoo, Soo Il Choi, So Hyun Kim, Soo Jin Yang, Hye Cheong Koo, Sang Hoon Seo, Bong Kyun Park, Han Sang Yoo, Yong Ho Park 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 1호 3 15-24 (10 pages)
The anionic alkali mineral complex solution, Barodon (Barodon-S.F. Corp., Korea), was evaluated for its effectiveness as a nonspecific immunostimulator in pigs. The effects of Barodon were determined by analysis of feed efficiency, growth rate, and phenotype of leukocyte subpopulations using monoclonal antibodies specific to porcine leukocyte differentiation antigens and flow cytometry (FC). The study was focused to investigate the change in proportion of the CD4+CD8+ double positive T... -
An immunohistochemical study on the pancreatic islets cells of the Mongolian gerbils, Meriones unguiculatus
Sae-kwang Ku, Hyeung-sik Lee, Ki-dae Park, Jae-hyun Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 1호 2 9-14 (6 pages)
In order to study the regional distribution and relative frequency of the immunoreactive endocrine cells in the pancreatic islets of the Mongolian gerbil, pancreatic sections of Meriones unguiculatus were immunostained using an immunohistochemical (PAP) method with four types of specific antisera against insulin, glucagon, somatostatin and human pancreatic polypeptide (PP). The pancreatic islets were subdivided into three portions (central region, mantle zone and peripheral region) according to... -
Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis in cynomolgus monkeys
Ki-Hoan Nam 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2000, 제 1권 제 2호 10 127-131 (5 pages)
Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis was induced in macaques. T cell clones infiltrated into the brain lesion area were compared with those in blood. Intradermal immunization of macaques with brain white matter derived from healthy macaque in combination with pertussis toxin, induced neurological symptoms in two macaques. One died on day 25 after immunization, whereas the other survived. Gross examination of the brain from the dead macaque, showed clear hemorrhagic lesions in the white... -

a reservoir of infection. In conclusion the biliary tree is an adequate niche for the propagation of E. bieneusi. This work has also resulted in the development of a procedure of ultrasound-guided cholecystocentesis for aspirating biles. This is a simple and non-surgical procedure, and creates no signs of clinical complications in the livers and the gall bladders after dozens of separate attempts. Thus, this is a very useful and safe technique for the aspiration of bile from live animals. -
Immunologic reactivity of a lipopolysaccharide-protein complex of type A Pasteurella multocida in mice
Hyo-ik Ryu, Chul-joong Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2000, 제 1권 제 2호 5 87-95 (9 pages)
The immunologic reactivity of a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-protein complex isolated from a potassium thiocyanate extract of a Pasteurella multocida (capsular type A and somatic type 3) strain was evaluated in mice. The LPS-protein complex provided 100% protection in mice against a challenge with the homologous strain. However, when the complex was fractionated into LPS and protein moieties by phenol-water treatment, both components lacked immunogenicity. The complex and extracted components were...
