In this paper, we reorganize a large disk array with disks performance and place video objects using the placement policy considering both characteristics of video data and the structure of storage system for maximizing retrieval efficiency. avoids blocking the execution of live processes during recovery even in concurrently multiple failures and overloading only one among recovering processes. Moreover, it allows the recovery of each recovering process not to be delayed by the continuous failures of other recovering processes. We prove the correctness of our recovery algorithm, and our simulation results show that our algorithm reduces the average recovery time of a failed process compared with the existing recovery algorithms. -

Context switches, even at fairly large intervals, can seriously degrade the performance of many of the most accurate branch prediction schemes. In this study, we measure the effect of context switch on the branch prediction accuracy in various situation and show the feasibility of our new mechanism, OPTS(Overlapped Predictor Table Switch), which save and restore branch history table at every context switch. -

with call locality. Through analytical models, we analyze the performance of the proposed scheme and compare it with that of the IS-41 scheme. The measures of comparison used are the network cost, the database cost, and the call set up delay. For all these measures, the proposed scheme performs better than the location management scheme defined in the IS-41 standard. Result comparison also shows that the our scheme performs better than the IS-41 scheme, regardless of CMR(Call-to-Mobility Ratio). -

When an ATM host requests joining into a specific multicast group, the MARS designate a proper MCS among the multiple MCSs for the group member to minimize the average path delay between the sender and the group members. This scheme constructs a multicast tree through 2-phase partial multicast tree construction based upon the shortest path algorithm.We reduced the average path delay in multicast tree using our scheme under various cluster topologies and MCS distribution scenarios. -

Our cooperator has functions for checking access rights of objects in object groups, and for providing bidirectional linkage among traders. Up to now, the existing trader federation models have a single directional linkage for interactions among traders. inherent characteristics of the TAP controller, it is impossible to test delay defects on the interconnect nets. This paper introduces a new technique that postpones the activation of UpdateDR signal by 1.5 TCKs while complying with IEEE 1149.1 standard. Furthermore we have developed 2 log(n+2) , where N is the number of nets, interconnect test patterns to test delay faults in addition to the static interconnect faults. The validness of our approach is verified through the design and simulation. -

entire workload. A proper phase configuration distributes workload uniformly over time and reduces task interference that may otherwise result in jitter, deadline miss, and long response time. The objective of this paper is to work out a phased scheduling algorithm and to evaluate its effectiveness. The algorithm in this paper is an alternative approach to our previous work 1 . The algorithm reported in this paper is an on-the-fly algorithm that detects the races that "occur first" in a particular execution of shared-memory parallel programs. The experiment has accomplished, where two certified benchmark programs which can be executed under High Performance Fortran environments to get some parameters which improve debugging performance with our algorithm. with our algorithm.
