Pharmacokinetics, urinary excretion and dosage regimen of levofloxacin following a single intramuscular administration in cross bred calves
Vinod K. Dumka, Anil K. Srivastava 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 4호 5 333-337 (5 pages)
The pharmacokinetics and urinary excretion following single intramuscular administration of levofloxacin at a dose of 4 mg/kg was investigated in seven male cross bred calves. Appreciable plasma concentration of levofloxacin (0.38 ± 0.06 μg/ml) was detected at 1 min after injection and the peak plasma level of 3.07 ± 0.08 μg/ml was observed at 1 h. The drug level above MIC90 in plasma was detected up to 12 h after administration. Rapid absorption of the drug was also evident by the high... -
Characterization of Chinook head salmon embryo phenotypes of infectious salmon anemia virus by real-time RT-PCR
Khalid Munir 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 2호 13 167-176 (10 pages)
We have previously described the development of a onetube SYBR Green real-time RT-PCR assay for the detection and quantitation of infectious salmon anemia virus (ISAV) in various biological samples. The twofold aim of the present study was to verify that the optimized SYBR Green real-time RT-PCR conditions could detect ISAV isolates of different geographic origins, and to analyze the growth patterns of the selected ISAV isolates in the Chinook head salmon embryo (CHSE) -214 cells by this assay... -
Human embryonic stem cells and therapeutic cloning
Woo Suk Hwang, Byeong Chun Lee, Chang Kyu Lee, Sung Keun Kang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 2호 1 87-96 (10 pages)
The remarkable potential of embryonic stem (ES) cells is their ability to develop into many different cell types. ES cells make it possible to treat patients by transplanting specialized healthy cells derived from them to repair damaged and diseased cells or tissues, known as “stem cell therapy”. However, the issue of immunocompatibility is one of considerable significance in ES cell transplantation. One approach to overcome transplant rejection of human ES (hES) cells is to derive hES cells... -
Development of a novel antigen capture-ELISA using IgY against porcine interleukin-6 and its application
Deog Yong Lee, Young Wook Cho, Sang Gyun Kang, Sung Jae Shin, Han Sang Yoo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 4호 9 337-343 (7 pages)
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is introduced as a marker of disease. At present, a variety of method may be used to quantify expression of this protein. Antigen capture-ELISA is a sensitive and accurate quantification method previously used with ovine, rat, and human IL-6 proteins. However, it has never been reported to quantify porcine IL-6 protein using capture ELISA. In this study, we generated and characterized a set of IgY and mono-specific polyclonal antibodies to recombinant porcine IL-6 (rpIL-6),... -
B6C3F1 mice exposed to ozone with 4-(N-methyl-Nnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone and/or dibutyl phthalate showed toxicities through alterations of NF-κB, AP-1, Nrf2, and osteopontin
Min Young Kim, Kyung Suk Song, Gun Ho Park, Seung Hee Chang, Hyun Woo Kim, Jin Hong Park, Hwa Jin, Kook Jong Eu, Hyun Sun Cho, G 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 2호 7 131-137 (7 pages)
Toxic effects of ozone, 4-(N-methyl-N-nitrosamino)-1-(3- pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK), and/or dibutyl phthalate (DBP) were examined through NF-kB, AP-1, Nrf2, and osteopontin (OPN) in lungs and livers of B6C3F1 mice. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) indicated that mice treated with combination of toxicants induced high NF-kB activities. Expression levels of p105, p65, and p50 proteins increased in all treated mice, whereas IkB activity was inhibited in NNK-, DBP-, and combination-treated... -
The effects of cyclophosphamide treatment on the pathogenesis of subgroup J avian leukosis virus (ALV-J) infection in broiler chickens with Marek's disease virus exposure
Yongbaek Kim, Thomas P. Brown and Mary J. Pantin-Jackwood 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 1호 7 49-58 (10 pages)
Studies were performed to determine the effects of Bcell suppression on the pathogenesis of Subgroup J avian leukosis virus (ALV-J) in broiler chickens. Neonatal chickens were treated with cyclophosphamide (CY) or PBS, and then infected with ALV-J (ADOL-7501) at 2 weeks of age. CY treatment induced B cell specific immunosuppression throughout the experiment confirmed by decreased bursal weight, intact lymphocyte mitogenetic activity stimulated by Con A and increased relative subpopulation of... -
Phenotype of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α(PPARα)deficient mice on mixed background fed high fat diet
Bang Hyun Kim, Young Suk Won, Eun-Young Kim, Mijung Yoon, Ki-Taek Nam, Goo Taeg Oh, Dae-Yong Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2003, 제 4권 제 3호 7 239-244 (6 pages)
Considerable controversy exists in determining the role of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α (PPARα) on obesity. Previous reports demonstrated that PPARα is a critical modulator of lipid homeostasis, but the overt, obese phenotypic characterization in the strain of PPAR deficient (PPARα-/-) mice is influenced by other factors, including diet and genetics. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the phenotypic characterization of PPARα-/- mice prior to the obesity-related study.... -
Assessment of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus RNA Load in Sera and Tissues during Acute Infection
Jin-Ho Shin and Thomas W. Molitor 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 12 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 2호 4 75-86 (12 pages)
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) RNA load in sera and tissues during acute phase of infection was evaluated using a PCR- based quantitative assay. More than 80% of infected pigs (21/25) showed the peak level of viral RNA concentrations in serum (up to 8.6 x 10(8) copies/ml) at day 5 postinfection (PI), and started to clear the virus from the systemic circulation thereafter. Regression analysis using the viral RNA concentrations in sera obtained from days 5 to 14 PI... -
Isolation of Subgroup J Avian Leukosis Virus in Korea
Haan-Woo Sung, Jae-Hong Kim, Sanjay Reddy and Aly Fadly 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 2호 3 71-74 (4 pages)
Two subgroup J avian leukosis viruses (ALVs) were isolated from broiler breeder flocks, in which myeloid leukosis had occurred. The isolates could be classified as subgroup J ALV by the positive reaction in polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with primers specific for subgroup J ALV. Two isolates replicated in chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) cells from the alv6 chicken line in which cells are resistant to subgroup A and E ALVs. In in vitro serum neutralization tests with other subgroup ALVs... -
Expression of Angiostatin Using DNA - Based Semliki Forest Virus Replicon
Hyun Soo Kim, Kwang Soon Shin, Jong Soo Lee, Young Ki Choi, Chul Joong Kim, Yong Soo Choi 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 1호 7 41-45 (5 pages)
Angiogenesis is recognized as a critical factor in the growth of tumor cells and plays a key role in the tumor metastasis. Recent studies for antiangiogenic substances are getting popular. The angiostatin, one of the antiangiogenic substances, leads to the increased apoptosis of the tumor cells by inhibiting the neovascularization of the tumor. The angiostatin was identified as the internal fragments of the plasminogen which has no antiangiogenic activity. By hydrolysis of the plasminogen, the...
