Sertoli cell tumors associated with feminizing syndrome and spermatic cord torsion in two cryptorchid dogs
Marco Quartuccio, Gabriele Marino*, Giuseppe Garufi, Santo Cristarella, Antonina Zanghi 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 2호 14 207-209 (3 pages)
The association of cryptorchidism, functional Sertoli cell tumors, and spermatic cord torsion has been rarely reported in the literature. Two dogs were admitted for bilateral skin alopecia and weight loss. Both animals were cryptorchid and displayed a pendulous preputial sheath, prostate hypertrophy, and increased levels of circulating oestrogen. Transabdominal palpation and ultrasonography revealed the presence of neoplastic retained gonads. During surgery, spermatic cord torsion was also... -

Roberto Tamburro*, Stefania Pinna, Anna Maria Tribuiani, Alessandra Panacea, Fabio Carli, Antonio Venturini 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 1호 13 93-98 (6 pages)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate a new extracapsular surgical technique for the treatment of cranial cruciate ligament rupture in small breed dogs. Nine small breed dogs (seven females and two males) weighing ≤ 15 kg were treated with biceps femoris muscle transposition (BFT). The duration of the BFT procedure was 20 min. Each patient underwent a standard clinical protocol and a questionnaire for the owners. Follow-up (at 1, 3, and 12 months postoperative) confirmed significant... -

Yi-Yang Lien, Chi-Hung Huang, Fang-Chun Sun, Shyang-Chwen Sheu, Tsung-Chi Lu, Meng-Shiunn Lee, Shu-Chin Hsueh, Hsi-Jien Chen, Me 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 1호 11 73-79 (7 pages)
Chicken anemia virus (CAV) is an important viral pathogen that causes anemia and severe immunodeficiency syndrome in chickens worldwide. In this study, a potential diagnostic monoclonal antibody against the CAV VP1 protein was developed which can precisely recognize the CAV antigen for diagnostic and virus recovery purposes. The VP1 gene of CAV encoding the N-terminus-deleted VP1 protein, VP1Nd129, was cloned into an Escherichia (E.) coli expression vector. After... -
Elevated fructosamine concentrations caused by IgA paraproteinemia in two dogs
Florian Zeugswetter*, Miriam Kleiter, Birgitt Wolfesberger, Ilse Schwendenwein, Ingrid Miller 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 4호 14 359-361 (3 pages)
hypoalbuminemia and markedly elevated fructosamine concentrations in both dogs. Multiple myeloma with IgA- monoclonal gammopathy was diagnosed by serum and urine electrophoresis including immunodetection with an anti-dog IgA antibody and bone marrow aspirations. Diabetes mellitus was excluded by repeated plasma and urine glucose measurements. Fructosamine values were positively correlated with globulin, but negatively correlated with albumin concentrations. These cases suggest that, as in human... -
Effect of multi-planar CT image reformatting on surgeon diagnostic performance for localizing thoracolumbar disc extrusions in dogs
Jason B. King, Jeryl C. Jones, John H. Rossmeisl Jr*, Tisha A. Harper, Otto I Lanz, Stephen R. Werre 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 3호 8 225-232 (8 pages)
Accurate pre-operative localization and removal of disc material are important for minimizing morbidity in dogs with thoracolumbar disc extrusions. Computed tomography (CT) is an established technique for localizing disc extrusions in dogs, however the effect of multi-planar reformatting (MPR) on surgeon diagnostic performance has not been previously described. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of MPR CT on surgeon diagnostic accuracy, certainty and agreement for localizing... -
Two different types of malignant fibrous histiocytomas from pet dogs
Sun Hee Do, Il-Hwa Hong, Jin-Kyu Park, Ae-Ri Ji, Tae-Hwan Kim, Dong-Mi Kwak, Kyu-Shik Jeong* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 2호 13 169-172 (4 pages)
We describe 2 cases of malignant fibrous histiocytomas (MFHs) that spontaneously developed in young pet dogs. To classify these tumors, we applied a panel of antibodies (vimentin, desmin, a-SMA, and ED1) and Azan staining for collagen. The MFHs were most consistent with osteoclast- like giant and inflammatory cell types. The first case had positive staining for ED1 and vimentin, and given the osteoclast-like giant cells, calcification sites accompanying peripheral giant cell infiltrates. The... -
Multilobular tumour of the caudal cranium causing severe cerebral and cerebellar compression in a dog
Vassilios Psychas, Panayiotis Loukopoulos*, Zoe S. Polizopoulou, Georgios Sofianidis 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 1호 13 81-84 (4 pages)
Multilobular tumour of bone (MTB) is an uncommon tumour and is usually located in the skull. A 13-year-old mixed breed dog was presented with a two-week history of progressively worsening vestibular dysfunction and cognitive abnormalities; it appeared demented and showed asymmetric ataxia and hypermetria of all limbs. The owner opted to have the animal euthanised. Necropsy revealed a large mass occupying the right occipital, parietal and temporal bones, severely compressing the cerebellum and... -
Comparative immunohistochemical characterization of canine seminomas and Sertoli cell tumors
Chi-Ho Yu, Du-Na Hwang, Ji-Young Yhee, Jong-Hyuk Kim, Keum-Soon Im, Whan-Gook Nho, Young-Soo Lyoo, Jung-Hyang Sur* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 1호 1 1-7 (7 pages)
Primary testicular tumors are the most common causes of cancer in male dogs. Overall, the majority of canine patients should be cured by testicular surgery. However, tumor markers are not well-known in veterinary medicine. We sought to determine using immunohistochemistry whether the combined human testicular tumor markers (placental alkaline phosphatase, OCT3/4, CD30, alpha-fetoprotein, inhibin-alpha, vimentin, c-KIT, and desmin) are expressed in canine seminomas and Sertoli cell tumors (SCTs).... -

a firm mass. Radiographs of the head revealed a soft-tissue density that involved faint circular calcific opacity. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed that the peripheral capsulated cystic area had a contrast enhanced region without bone lysis. The cat received a total excision of the mass and postoperative radiotherapy. Histopathological analysis of the mass revealed that it was a malignant mixed tumor. Metastasis to the lung was discovered 7 weeks later, at which time treatment was... -
Evaluation of serum chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronan: biomarkers for osteoarthritis in canine hip dysplasia
Korakot Nganvongpanit, Akanit Itthiarbha, Siriwan Ong-Chai, Prachya Kongtawelert 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 3호 13 317-326 (10 pages)
Hip dysplasia (HD) is one of the most important bone and joint diseases in dogs. Making the radiographic diagnosis is sometime possible when the disease has markedly progressed. Chondroitin sulfate (CS) and hyaluronan (HA) are the most important cartilage biomolecules that are elevated in the serum taken from dogs with osteoarthritis. The serum CS and HA can be detected by an ELISA technique, with using monoclonal antibodies against CS epitope 3B3 and WF6 and the HA chain as the primary...
