by laser Doppler flowmetry. The plasticity of PcomA was visualized by intravascular perfusion of India ink solution. When animals had the residual cortical microperfusion less than 15% as well as the smaller PcomA whose diameter was less than one third compared with that of basilar artery, neuronal damage in the hippocampal subfields including CA1, CA2, and CA4, and in the striatum was consistently observed. Especially, when mice met these two criteria, marked neuronal damage was observed in CA2... -
Promoting Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide on 1-Methyl-4-phenylpyridinium-induced Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Cell Death in PC12 Cells
DongHeeLee, ChungSooLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2006, Vol.10 No.1 9 51-57 (7 pages)
The promoting effect of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) against the cytotoxicity of 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP) in differentiated PC12 cells was assessed by measuring the effect on the mitochondrial membrane permeability. Treatment of PC12 cells with MPP resulted in the nuclear damage, decrease in the mitochondrial transmembrane potential, cytosolic accumulation of cytochrome c, activation of caspase-3, increase in the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and depletion of GSH.... -
Changes of Cytosolic Ca2+ under Metabolic Inhibition in Isolated Rat Ventricular Myocytes

myocytes were exposed to 200μM 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP), and mitochondrial Ca2, mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm), and cytosolic Ca2 were measured, using Rhod-2 AM, TMRE, and Fluo-4 AM fluorescent dyes, respectively, by Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy (LSCM). Furthermore, the role of sarcolemmal Na/Ca2 exchange (NCX) in cytosolic Ca2 efflux was studied in KB-R7943 and Na-free normal Tyrode's solution (143 mM LiCl ). When DNP was applied to... -
Transduction of Tat-Superoxide Dismutase into Insulin-producing MIN6N Cells Reduces Streptozotocin-induced Cytotoxicity

The reactive oxygen species (ROS) are considered to be an important mediator in pancreatic β cell destruction, thereby triggering the development of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. In the present study, HIV-1 Tat-mediated transduction of Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase (SOD) was investigated to evaluate its protective potential against streptozotocin (STZ)-induced cytotoxicity in insulin-producing MIN6N cells. Tat-SOD fusion protein was successfully delivered into MIN6N cells in a... -

Vertical augmentation using the mandibular body bone for repair of failed implants: a case report
Da-Nee Jeon, Han-Kyul Park, Yong-Deok Kim 대한치과이식임플란트학회 Journal of Dental Implant Research 5 Pages
대한치과이식임플란트학회 Journal of Dental Implant Research 2015, 제 34권 2호 2 41-45 (5 pages)
An implant may fail due to insufficient osseointegration between the supporting bone and the implant. Surgical removal of a failed implant is unavoidable with severe bone loss and an infectious state. In this case, a wide-ranging bone graft surgery is needed. The mandibular body bone (MBB) is an autogenous bone that could be a donor site for an alveolar bone graft. An MBB graft is easy, simple, and safe. This study reports a successful bone graft that used only MBB to repair a failed implant... -
Current Classification of the Bacillus pumilus Group Species, the Rubber- Pathogenic Bacteria Causing Trunk Bulges Disease in Malaysia as Assessed by MLSA and Multi rep-PCR Approaches
Ainur Ainiah Azman Husni, Siti Izera Ismail, Noraini Md. Jaafar, Dzarifah Zulperi 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 15 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2021, 37권 3호 4 243-257 (15 pages)
Bacillus pumilus is the causal agent of trunk bulges dis- ease affecting rubber and rubberwood quality and yield production. In this study, B. pumilus and other closely related species were included in B. pumilus group, as they shared over 99.5% similarity from 16S rRNA analysis. Multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) of five housekeeping genes and repetitive elements-based poly- merase chain reaction (rep-PCR) using REP, ERIC, and BOX primers conducted to analyze the diversity and systematic... -
The Membrane-Bound Protein, MoAfo1, Is Involved in Sensing Diverse Signals from Different Surfaces in the Rice Blast Fungus

rice leaves. MoAfo1 localized to the membranes of the cytoplasm and vacuole-like organelles in conidia and appressoria. Additionally, the ΔMoafo1 mutant showed defects in appressorium mor- phology, appressorium penetration, invasive growth, and pathogenicity. These multiple defects might bepartially due to failure to respond properly to oxidative stress. These findings broaden our understanding of the fungal mechanisms at play in the recognition of the host surface during rice blast infection. -
Variability in the Viral Protein Linked to the Genome of Turnip Mosaic Virus Influences Interactions with eIF(iso)4Es in Brassica rapa
Guoliang Li, Shifan Zhang, Fei Li, Hui Zhang, Shujiang Zhang, Jianjun Zhao, Rifei Sun 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 10 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2021, 37권 1호 4 47-56 (10 pages)
Plants protect against viruses through passive and ac- tive resistance mechanisms, and in most cases charac- terized thus far, natural recessive resistance to potyvi- ruses has been mapped to mutations in the eukaryotic initiation factor eIF4E or eIF(iso)4E genes. Five eIF4E copies and three eIF(iso)4E copies were detected in Brassica rapa. The eIF4E and eIF(iso)4E genes could interact with turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) viral protein linked to the genome (VPg) to initiate virus translation. From...
