Thermo-electrical properties of randomly oriented carbon/carbon composite
Thakur Sudesh Kumar Raunija, N. Supriya 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 11 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 3 25-35 (11 pages)
The aim of the work was to investigate the thermo-electrical properties of low cost and rapidly produced randomly oriented carbon/carbon (C/C) composite. The composite body was fabricated by combining the high-pressure hot-pressing (HP) method with the lowpressure impregnation thermosetting carbonization (ITC) method. After the ITC method step selected samples were graphitized at 3000°C. Detailed characterization of the samples’ physical properties and thermal properties, including thermal... -
Kinetic and multi-parameter isotherm studies of picric acid removal from aqueous solutions by carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes in the presence and absence of ultrasound
Soheila Gholitabar, Hasan Tahermansouri 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 11 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 2 14-24 (11 pages)
Carboxylated multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-COOH) have been used as efficient adsorbents for the removal of picric acid from aqueous solutions under stirring and ultrasound conditions. Batch experiments were conducted to study the influence of the different parameters such as pH, amount of adsorbents, contact time and concentration of picric acid on the adsorption process. The kinetic data were fitted with pseudo-first order, pseudo-secondorder, Elovich and intra-particle diffusion models.... -
The effects of carbon coating onto graphite filler on the structure and properties of carbon foams
Ji-Hyun Kim, Do Young Kim, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 16 111-115 (5 pages)
the mechanical properties of metal-based heat sink materials are difficult to control at temperatures over 550°C [2,3]. Thus, CFms are actively investigated as heat sink materials because of their good properties, such as high thermal stability, high thermal/electrical conductivity, low density, high porosity and high specific surface area [4,5]. CFms are suitable materials for applications in phase-change materials, such as in latent heat thermal energy storage and lithium-ion batteries [6-9]. -
Tribological properties of carbon fiber-reinforced aluminum composites processed by spark plasma sintering
Ki Hoon Jung, Seungjin Nam, Sung-Soo Kang, Bon-Cheol Ku, Yun Hyuk Bang, Jun Yeon Hwang 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 4 Pages

are added to the metal matrix in the form of powders, whiskers, and fibers to improve the mechanical properties of metals [2]. Fibers have been used since the 1950s as structural reinforcements to develop metal-matrix composites. However, the improvements in physical properties in terms of high strength under extreme conditions have not yet been achieved. Thus, research into versatile reinforcements such as carbon fibers (CFs) has been conducted. Choi et al. [3] developed and processed CFs from... -
Synthesize multi-walled carbon nanotubes via catalytic chemical vapour deposition method on Fe-Ni bimetallic catalyst supported on kaolin
Aliyu A, Abdulkareem AS, Kovo AS, Abubakre OK, Tijani JO, Kariim I 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 18 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 5 33-50 (18 pages)
In this study, Fe-Ni bimetallic catalyst supported on kaolin is prepared by a wet impregnation method. The effects of mass of kaolin support, pre-calcination time, pre-calcination temperature and stirring speed on catalyst yields are examined. Then, the optimal supported Fe-Ni catalyst is utilised to produce multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) using catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) method. The catalysts and MWCNTs prepared using the optimal conditions are characterized using high... -
Thermoelectric Seebeck and Peltier effects of single walled carbon nanotube quantum dot nanodevice
H. A. El-Demsisy, M. D. Asham, D. S. Louis, A. H. Phillips 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages

at the carbon nanotube quantum dot/ metal contact are controlled by the back gate. Results show that both the Seebeck and Peltier coefficients have random oscillation as a function of gate voltage in the Coulomb blockade regime for all types of SWCNT quantum dots. Also, the values of both the Seebeck and Peltier coefficients are enhanced, mainly due to the induced tensile strain. Results show that the three types of SWCNT quantum dot are good thermoelectric nanodevices for energy harvesting... -
Mechanical properties of epoxy composites reinforced with ammonia-treated graphene oxides
Mi-Seon Park, Sangmin Lee, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 1 1-7 (7 pages)
The effects of ammonia-treated graphene oxide (GO) on composites based on epoxy resin were investigated. Ammonia solutions of different concentrations (14?28%) were used to modify GO. Nitrogen functional groups were introduced on the GO surfaces without significant structural changes. The ammonia-treated GO-based epoxy composites exhibited interesting changes in their mechanical properties related to the presence of nitrogen functional groups, particularly amine (C-NH2) groups on the GO... -
Preparation of gold nanoparticle/single-walled carbon nanotube nanohybrids using biologically programmed peptide for application of flexible transparent conducting films
MinHo Yang, Bong Gill Choi 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.20 4 26-31 (6 pages)
In this study, we report a general method for preparation of a one-dimensional (1D) arrangement of Au nanoparticles on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) using biologically programmed peptides as structure-guiding 1D templates. The peptides were designed by the combination of glutamic acid (E), glycine (G), and phenylalanine (F) amino acids; peptides efficiently debundled and exfoliated the SWNTs for stability of the dispersion and guided the growth of the array of Au nanoparticles in a... -
Comparative electrochemical study of sulphonated polysulphone binded graphene oxide supercapacitor in two electrolytes
Harish Mudila, M.G.H. Zaidi, Sweta Rana, S. Alam 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.18 7 43-48 (6 pages)
Sulphonated polysulphone (SPS) has been synthesized and subsequently applied as binder for graphene oxide (GO)-based electrodes for development of electrochemical supercapacitors. Electrochemical performance of the electrode was investigated using cyclic voltammetry in 1M Na2SO4 and 1M KOH solution. The fabricated supercapacitors gave a specific capacitance of 161.6 and 216.8 F/g with 215.4 W/kg and 450 W/kg of power density, in 1M Na2SO4 and 1M KOH solutions, respectively. This suggests that...
