Facile fabrication of electrospun polyacrylonitrile/ poly(vinylidene fluoride)-based carbon nanofibers for supercapacitor electrodes
Hyo In Lee, Soo-Jin Park 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 12 79-83 (5 pages)
Energy storage devices and renewable energy sources are some of the most interesting alternatives being developed to solve the energy crisis [1,2]. At the same time, energy harvesting and storage devices are among the technologies with the highest potential to efficiently satisfy the energy requirements of compact electronic devices [3]. Among various energy storage devices, supercapacitors are the among the most intensely researched because of their high power density, long cycle retention, and... -
Effects of synthesis pressure conditions on the preparation of graphene-like carbonaceous materials from organic liquid precursors by a solvothermal method

that the properties of nano-composites are significantly different than those of the bulk materials [1]. Some unique phenomena, such as the quantum tunneling effect, and surface effects, have also been observed, and attributed to the large surface area and small size of the carbon nanomaterials. It has been reported that such nanomaterials exhibit high temperature sensitivity, high ductility, large surface area, high strain resistance, and low electrical resistivity [2]. Because of these unique... -
Lyocell-based activated carbon fibers improved the adsorption of harmful gas properties when produced via dual-simultaneous treatments
Byong Chol Bai, Ji Sun Im, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 10 69-73 (5 pages)
In gas adsorption processes, activated carbon fibers (ACFs) are used for the adsorption of the harmful gases that are generated by coal or oil combustion, and they have been widely studied [1,2]. ACFs have been used for harmful gas removal because of their specific surface area, micropores, reproducibility, safety, and processing ability, which are beneficial properties for a wide range of applications [3,4]. -
Dispersions of partially reduced graphene oxide in various organic solvents and polymers

by controlling the carbon to oxygen (C/O) atomic ratio of the PRGOs. A two-phase solvent exchange method is also proposed to transfer PRGO from water to an aprotic solvent, such as methyl ethyl ketone. We achieve relatively good dispersion in aprotic and non-polar solvents by controlling the C/O atomic ratio of the PRGOs and applying the two-phase solvent exchange method. There is an increase in the glass transition temperatures with the dispersion of PRGOs into amorphous polymers, in particular... -
Adsorption of Nile Blue A from aqueous solution by different nanostructured carbon adsorbents
Shahryar Abbasi, Hadi Noorizadeh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 5 30-37 (8 pages)
Dyes are widely used in various industries including textile, cosmetic, paper, plastics, rubber, and coating, and their discharge into waterways causes serious environmental and health problems. Four different carbon nanostructures, graphene oxide, oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes, activated carbon and multi-walled carbon nanotubes, were used as adsorbents for the removal of Nile Blue A (NBA) dye from aqueous solution. The four carbon nanostructures were characterized by scanning electron... -
Synthesis, characterization, and antibacterial performance of Ag-modified graphene oxide reinforced electrospun polyurethane nanofibers
Bishweshwar Pant, Mira Park, Rae-Sang Jang, Woo-Cheol Choi, Hak-Yong Kim, Soo-Jin Park 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 3 17-21 (5 pages)
Polyurethane (PU) nanofibers containing graphene oxide (GO) and Ag doped functionalized reduced graphene oxide (Ag-RGO) were successfully prepared via the electrospinning technique. The uniform distribution of GO sheets along with Ag nanoparticle in the nano?bers was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and the elemental mapping technique. X-ray diffraction and thermal gravimetric analysis veri?ed the presence of GO and Ag in the bicomposite nano?brous mats. Antibacterial tests against... -
Fabrication of nitrogen doped ordered mesoporous carbon derived from glucosamine with hybrid capacitive behaviors

capacitive behaviors, achieved by successfully combining electrical double-layer capacitance with pseudo-capacitance behaviors. The nitrogen doping content of the fabricated NOMC reached 7.4 at% while its specific surface area (SBET) and total pore volume reached 778 m2 g?1 and 1.17 cm3 g?1, respectively. A dual mesoporous structure with small mesopores centered at 3.6 nm and large mesopores centered at 9.9 nm was observed. The specific capacitance of the reported materials reached up to 328 F... -

brittle surfaces, the increased thermal stability, and the carbon assay with increasing the carbonization temperature. The scanning electron microscopic images and the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller result indicate that the steam-activated carbon has the specific surface area of 1718 m2/g, which is markedly greater than the carbonized lignin. This study reveals that biomassbased activated carbon with highly porous structure can be produced from costless black liquor via steam-activation process. -
Adsorption characteristics of heavy metals ions by physical activation on coal tar pitch-based activated carbon fibers

Due to the increasing population growth of modern society, along with rapid industrial development and urbanization, environmental pollution continues to worsen and has become an important issue, not only domestically but also worldwide. In particular, toxic substances such as heavy metal ions are present in the wastewater produced by various industries. This wastewater flows into rivers, pollutes water supplies, and can contaminate the drinking water supplied to people [1-3]. Powder or... -

the nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheet structure and composition. The removal of Cr(VI) by the N-doped carbon nanosheets was investigated. The results showed that the maximum removal capacity for chromium of 188 mg/g was found at pH=2.0 with PHC-Z-3. pH had an important effect on Cr(VI) removal and the optimal pH was 2.0. Moreover, amino groups and carboxyl groups in the nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheet played important roles in Cr(VI) removal, and promoted the reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III).
