Immunohistochemical identification and quantitative analysis of cytoplasmic Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase in mouse organogenesis
Jung-Min Yon, In-Jeoung Baek, Se-Ra Lee, Mi-Ra Kim, Beom Jun Lee, Young Won Yun, Sang-Yoon Nam 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 3호 2 233-240 (8 pages)
Cytoplasmic Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) is an antioxidant enzyme that converts superoxide to hydrogen peroxide in cells. Its spatial distribution matches that of superoxide production, allowing it to protect cells from oxidative stress. SOD1 deficiencies result in embryonic lethality and a wide range of pathologies in mice, but little is known about normal SOD1 protein expression in developing embryos. In this study, the expression pattern of SOD1 was investigated in post-implantation... -
Mammary fibroadenoma in a lamb
M. Yavuz Gulbahar*, Tolga Guvenc, Murat Yarim, Yonca B. Kabak, Yuksel Sozgen 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 4호 16 423-426 (4 pages)
A fibroadenoma was diagnosed in the left udder of a 3-month-old female Chios lamb. No recurrence was observed after surgery. Grossly, the tumor had a whitish- gray lobular appearance, and the lobules were interlaced with thin septa. Microscopically, the tumor was composed of proliferating fibroepithelial tissue, including differentiated ducts lined by whorls and interlacing bundles of abundant loose fibrovascular stroma. Immunohistochemistry revealed the ductal epithelium to be positive for... -
Primary chondrosarcoma in the skull of a dog
Heejaung Kim, Munekazu Nakaichi, Kazuhito Itamoto, Yasuho Taura 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 1호 15 99-101 (3 pages)
slowly enlarged over the previous month. There were no significant changes on the neurological examination. A computed tomography scan revealed a large mass involving bone destruction and prominent matrix mineralization. T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging showed a slightly low-signal intensity area and a T2-weighted image revealed marked, high-signal intensity. There was compression of the adjacent brain parenchyma. Histopathological examination confirmed the lesion to be a chondrosarcoma. -
Multilobular tumor of the mandible in a Pekingese dog
Bidur Pakhrin, Il-Hong Bae, Hyang Jee, Min-Soo Kang, Dae-Yong Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 15 297-298 (2 pages)
Multilobular tumor of bone detected in a 2.5-year-old male Pekingese dog is reported. Grossly, the neoplasm consisted of multiple, variably sized, gritty, grayish-white to yellow nodules separated by thick collagenous septa. Histologically, these nodules contained multiple lobules of irregularly shaped and sized islands of well-differentiated osteoid and cartilage, separated by anastomosing fibrovascular septa. Chondrocytes and osteocytes were observed in the lacunae and in more osseous islands... -
Mediastinal lymphoma in a young Turkish Angora cat

containing variable sized lymphocytes with frequent mitotic figures and prominent nucleoli. The feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus tests were negative. The cat was euthanized at his owner’s request and a necropsy was performed. A mass was detected on the mediastinum and lung lobes. A histopathology evaluation confirmed the mass to be a lymphoma. Immunohistochemistry revealed the mass to be CD3 positive. In conclusion, the cat was diagnosed as a T-cell mediastinal lymphoma. -

Eight major policies were implemented by Japanese Government since Oct.2001, to deal with bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).These are;1)Surveillance in farm by veterinarian, 2)Prion test at healthy 1.3mi cows/yr, by veterinarian, 3)Elimination of specified risk material (SRM), 4)Ban of MBM for production, sale use, 5)Prion test for fallen stocks, 6)Transparent information and traceability, 7)New Measures such as Food Safety Basic Law, and 8)Establish of Food Safety Commission in the Cabinet... -
CT myelography of the thoraco-lumbar spine in 8 dogs with degenerative myelopathy
Jeryl C. Jones, Karen D. Inzana, John H. Rossmeisl, Robert L. Bergman, Tana Wells, Katherine Butler 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 4호 13 341-348 (8 pages)
CT myelography of the T11-L2 region was performed in 8 large-breed dogs with a clinical diagnosis of degenerative myelopathy (DM) and 3 large-breed dogs that were clinically normal. CT myelographic characteristics were recorded for each dog, at each disc level. Area measurements of the spinal cord, dural sac, vertebral canal, and vertebral body were recorded at 4 slice locations for each disc level. Mean area ratios were calculated and graphically compared, by slice location and group. In all... -

The changes on the regional distributions and frequencies of two types of chromogranin, chromogranin A (CGA) and bovine Sp-1 chromogranin (BCG)-immunoreactive (IR)cells in gastrointestinal (GI)tract of osteoporotic Sprague-Dawley rat induced by ovariectomy were studied by immunohistochemical methods. The experimental animals were divided into two groups, one is non-ovariectomized group (Sham)and the other is ovariectomized group (OVX). Samples were collected from each part of GI tract at 10th... -
Human embryonic stem cells and therapeutic cloning
Woo Suk Hwang, Byeong Chun Lee, Chang Kyu Lee, Sung Keun Kang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 2호 1 87-96 (10 pages)
The remarkable potential of embryonic stem (ES) cells is their ability to develop into many different cell types. ES cells make it possible to treat patients by transplanting specialized healthy cells derived from them to repair damaged and diseased cells or tissues, known as “stem cell therapy”. However, the issue of immunocompatibility is one of considerable significance in ES cell transplantation. One approach to overcome transplant rejection of human ES (hES) cells is to derive hES cells... -
