Youngkwon Cho, Jimo Jeong, Haebeom Lee, Minsu Kim, Namsoo Kim, Kichang Lee* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 4호 12 419-424 (6 pages)
The feasibility of virtual otoscopy (VO) imaging was evaluated in five dogs with experimentally induced otitis media, two control dogs, and two canine patients with otitis media. VO images of the tympanic cavity and ossicles were generated with commercially available software using raw computed tomography (CT) data. Eight out of 10 ears inoculated with pathogen exhibited obvious clinical signs associated with otitis externa. CT images revealed soft tissue density material occupying the tympanic... -

Jihye Choi, Seoyeon Keh, Taeeun Kim, Jaeyoung Jang, Hyunwook Kim, Junghee Yoon* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 2호 16 215-217 (3 pages)
A Yorkshire terrier (case 1) and a Miniature Schnauzer (case 2) were diagnosed with pylorogastric intussusceptions (PGIs). Both cases showed acute vomiting and had previous histories of laparotomy. In case 1, the invaginated pyloric wall was thickened unevenly containing multiple hypoechoic areas and had indistinct wall layering on ultrasonography. PGI with diffuse gastric edema and necrosis was confirmed on laparotomy. The dog recovered completely after gastrectomy and a Y-U plasty. Case 2 had... -

대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 1호 13 93-98 (6 pages)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate a new extracapsular surgical technique for the treatment of cranial cruciate ligament rupture in small breed dogs. Nine small breed dogs (seven females and two males) weighing ≤ 15 kg were treated with biceps femoris muscle transposition (BFT). The duration of the BFT procedure was 20 min. Each patient underwent a standard clinical protocol and a questionnaire for the owners. Follow-up (at 1, 3, and 12 months postoperative) confirmed significant... -
Assessment of glomerular filtration rate with dynamic computed tomography in normal Beagle dogs
Jinhwa Chang, Sujin Kim, Joohyun Jung, Heechun Lee, Hojung Choi, Dongwoo Chang, Youngwon Lee, Junghee Yoon, Mincheol Choi* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 4호 13 393-399 (7 pages)
The objective of our study was to determine individual and global glomerular filtration rates (GFRs) using dynamic renal computed tomography (CT) in Beagle dogs. Twenty-four healthy Beagle dogs were included in the experiment. Anesthesia was induced in all dogs by using propofol and isoflurane prior to CT examination. A single slice of the kidney was sequentially scanned after a bolus intravenous injection of contrast material (iohexol, 1 mL/kg, 300 mgI/mL). Time attenuation curves were created... -
Cone beam computed tomography and intraoral radiography for diagnosis of dental abnormalities in dogs and cats
Marcello R. Roza*, Luiz Antonio F. Silva, Mauricio Barriviera, Alessandro L. Januário, Ana Cristina B. Bezerra, Maria Clori 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 4호 12 387-392 (6 pages)
The development of veterinary dentistry has substantially improved the ability to diagnose canine and feline dental abnormalities. Consequently, examinations previously performed only on humans are now available for small animals, thus improving the diagnostic quality. This has increased the need for technical qualification of veterinary professionals and increased technological investments. This study evaluated the use of cone beam computed tomography and intraoral radiography as complementary... -
Sedative and analgesic effects of intravenous xylazine and tramadol on horses
Jong-pil Seo, Won-gyun Son, Sujin Gang, Inhyung Lee* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 3호 12 281-286 (6 pages)
This study was performed to evaluate the sedative and analgesic effects of xylazine (X) and tramadol (T) intravenously (IV) administered to horses. Six thoroughbred saddle horses each received X (1.0 mg/kg), T (2.0 mg/kg), and a combination of XT (1.0 and 2.0 mg/kg, respectively) IV. Heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), rectal temperature (RT), indirect arterial pressure (IAP), capillary refill time (CRT), sedation, and analgesia (using electrical stimulation and pinprick) were measured... -
Multidetector computed tomographic angiography evaluation of micropig major systemic vessels for xenotransplantation
Jung Min Ryu, Woong Yoon, Jae Hong Park, Seung Pil Yun, Min Woo Jang, Ho Jae Han* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 3호 2 209-214 (6 pages)
Due primarily to the increasing shortage of allogeneic donor organs, xenotransplantation has become the focus of a growing field of research. Currently, micropigs are the most suitable donor animal for humans. However, no standard method has been developed to evaluate the systemic vascular anatomy of micropigs and standard reference values to aid in the selection of normal healthy animals as potential organ donors are lacking. Using 64-channel multidetector row computed tomographic angiography... -
Catheter-guided percutaneous heartworm removal using a nitinol basket in dogs with caval syndrome
Won-Kyoung Yoon, Donghyun Han, Changbaig Hyun 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 2호 15 199-201 (3 pages)
Carval syndrome is a severe heartworm infection where the worms have migrated to the right atrium and vena cava; this condition is associated with a myriad of clinical signs. Several non-surgical and interventional methods are currently used for mechanical worm removal. However, the success rate and complications related to these methods are heavily dependent on methodology and retrieval devices used. In this study, we developed a catheter-guided heartworm removal method using a retrieval basket... -

had complete AVB. Preoperative right atrial, right ventricular, and pulmonary artery dimensions increased gradually during the 30 days (p<0.05) following pneumonectomy, but did not undergo significant changes during that same period after lobectomy. Mean PASP was 56.0 ± 4.5 mmHg in dogs having significant TRJ after pneumonectomy. Pneumonectomy, but not lobectomy, could lead to increases (p<0.01) in the SIRS score within the first day post-surgery. In brief, it is important to conduct pre- and... -

Woong Yoon, Jung Min Ryu, Min Young Lee, Yong Ju Moon, Sang Hun Lee, Jae Hong Park, Seung Pil Yun, Min Woo Jang, Sung Su Park, H 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 3호 2 185-189 (5 pages)
Micropigs are the most likely source animals for xenotransplantation. However, an appropriate method for evaluating the lung of micropigs had not been established. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the feasibility of 64-channel multi-detector row computed tomography (MDCT) to measure the diameter of the pulmonary arteries and the lung volume in micropigs. The mean diameters of the trachea, and left and right bronchi were 1.6 ± 0.17, 1.18 ± 0.14, and 1.1 ± 0.11 cm,...
