in fruit bioassays, the same strains reduced the fruit rot ranging from 12% to 66%. Moreover, the bacterial strains with antagonistic activity increased in the ripening fruit stage. B. subtilis subsp. spiziennii M24 obtained the highest antagonistic activity (66.9% of rot reduction). The matrix-assisted laser desorption ioniza- tion-time of flight mass spectrometry analysis revealed that bacteria with antagonistic activity produce anti- fungal lipopeptides from iturin and fengycin families. -
Assessment of the Contribution of Antagonistic Secondary Metabolites to the Antifungal and Biocontrol Activities of Pseudomonas fluorescens NBC275

An understanding of the contribution of secondary metabolites (SMs) to the antagonistic and biocontrol activities of bacterial biocontrol agents serves to improve biocontrol potential of the strain. In this study, to evaluate the contribution of each SM produced by Pseudomonas fluorescens NBC275 (Pf275) to its antifungal and biocontrol activity, we combined in silico analysis of the genome with our previous study of transposon (Tn) mutants. Thirteen Tn mutants, which belonged to 6 biosynthetic... -

and the domestic pollen samples showed different aspects of microbial community structures. The domestic pollens had more diverse in diversity than the imported samples. Among top 20 OTUs, Pseudomonas spp. was the most dominant specie. Interestingly, a bacterial pathogen of kiwifruit canker, Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae was detected in ‘NZ’ by the specific PCR. This study provides insights microbial distribution and community structure information in kiwifruit pollen. -
Diffusible and Volatile Antifungal Compounds Produced by an Antagonistic Bacillus velezensis G341 against Various Phytopathogenic Fungi
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 11 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2017, 33권 5호 6 488-498 (11 pages)
The aim of this study was to identify volatile and agar-diffusible antifungal metabolites produced by Bacillus sp. G341 with strong antifungal activity against various phytopathogenic fungi. Strain G341 isolated from four-year-old roots of Korean ginseng with rot symptoms was identified as Bacillus velezensis based on 16S rDNA and gyrA sequences. Strain G341 inhibited mycelial growth of all phytopathogenic fungi tested. In vivo experiment results revealed that n-butanol extract of fermentation... -
Antagonistic Activities of Bacillus spp. Strains Isolated from Tidal Flat Sediment Towards Anthracnose Pathogens Colletotrichum acutatum and C. gloeosporioides in South Korea

and C. gloeosporioides. The three Bacillus atrophaeus strains, LB14, HM03, and HM17, produced large quantities of chitinase and protease enzymes, whereas the B. amyloliquefaciens strain LB01 produced protease and cellulase enzymes. Two important antagonistic traits, siderophore production and solubilization of insoluble phosphate, were observed in the three B. atrophaeus strains. Analyses of disease suppression revealed that LB14 was most effective for suppressing the incidence of anthracnose... -
Research Articles : Purification and Structural Analysis of Surfactin Produced by Endophytic Bacillus subtilis EBS05 and its Antagonistic Activity Against Rhizoctonia cerealis

th of strain EBS05 can more effectively control WSED than can fludioxonil. The fermentation broth and bacteria-free filter ability to suppress WSED was not significantly different, suggesting that an active secreted substance played a major role in controlling WSED. Separation and purification of the active compounds was carried out by serial processes, including hydrochloric acid (pH 2.0) treatment, methanol extraction and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, silica gel column chromatography... -

Province, China each year. This outbreak has severely reduced the production of Chinese medicinal plants P. chinense and caused substantial economic losses. The bacterial isolate JKB05 was isolated from the healthy leaves of P. chinense, exhibited antagonistic effects against N. guilinensis and was identified as Bacillus megaterium. The following fermentation medium and conditions improved the inhibitory effect of B. megaterium JKB05 on N. guilinensis: 2% glucose, 0.1% soybean powder, 0.1% KCl,...
