Influences on Teachers’ Career Decision: Perspectives from Pre-Service Music Teachers in Korea

of respondents indicated that they decided to become a music teacher during and after college, and parent(s) played an important role for them when deciding on a teaching career. Also, 38% of respondents stated that school ensemble was an important experience, and private/class teaching opportunities greatly influenced students’ choice in a music teaching career. Finally, respondents valued intrinsic reasons more than extrinsic and altruistic reasons when they chose to become a music teacher. -

for the Korean college students in various majors. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses partially supported a 3-factor structure for the Supports measure (social support, instrumental support, financial support) and for the Barriers measure (physical constraint, social influence, discrimination), respectively. Criterion validity was demonstrated with the correlation with other career measures. Comparisons with the original measure and other support and barriers scales were discussed. -

Employees’ Learning Goals and Affective Organizational Commitment: The Mediating Role of Career Adaptability

A total of 131 valid responses were used for the final data analysis. Results from hierarchical regression analyses showed that employees learning goals were predictive not only of career adaptability but also of organizational commitment. In addition, career adaptability was found to be a partial mediator between employees learning goals and organizational commitment. This study discussed the theoretical and practical implications of the findings and proposes directions for future research. -
