Distribution of Pectobacterium Species Isolated in South Korea and Comparison of Temperature Effects on Pathogenicity

activity de- creased with increasing temperature. Activity of pectate lyase was not significantly affected by temperature. Activity of protease, cellulase, and polygalacturonase decreased with increasing temperature. The inability of isolated Pectobacterium to soften host tissues at 37°C may be a consequence of decreased motility and PC- WDE activity. These data suggest that future increases in temperature as a result of climate change may affect the population dynamics of Pectobacterium. -
Temperature and CO2 Level Influence Potato leafroll virus Infection in Solanum tuberosum

of atmospheric temperature (10–30 ± 2°C in 5°C increments) and carbon dioxide (CO2) levels (400 ± 50 ppm, 540 ± 50 ppm, and 940 ± 50 ppm) on the infection of Solanum tuberosum cv. Chubaek by Potato leafroll virus (PLRV). Below CO2 levels of 400 ± 50 ppm, the PLRV infection rate and RNA content in plant tissues increased as the temperature increased to 20 ± 2°C, but declined at higher temperatures. At high CO2 levels... -
A Model to Explain Temperature Dependent Systemic Infection of Potato Plants by Potato virus Y
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 6 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2017, 33권 2호 12 206-211 (6 pages)
(PVY) was studied in growth chambers. Systemic infection of PVY was observed only within the temperature range of 16°C to 32°C. Within this temperature range, the time required for a plant to become infected systemically decreased from 14 days at 20°C to 5.7 days at 28°C. The estimated lower thermal threshold was 15.6°C and the thermal constant was 65.6 degree days. A systemic infection model was constructed based on experimental data, using the infection... -
The Effects of High Temperature on Infection by Potato virus Y, Potato virus A, and Potato leafroll virus

of temperature on establishment of virus infection. The greatest number of plants became infected when N. benthamiana was held at 20°C after inoculation with PVY-O or PVA. The largest number of P. floridana plants became infected with PLRV when the plants were maintained at 25°C. PLRV levels were highest in P. floridana kept at 20–25°C. These results indicate that the optimum temperatures for proliferation of PVY-O/PVA and PLRV differed. Western blot analysis... -
Effect of Salinity, Temperature and Carbon Source on the Growth and Development of Sclerotia of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum Isolated from Semi-arid Environment

of temperature, solute potential and carbon source on the mycelial growth, sclerotia development, and apothecium production of an isolate of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Mycelial growth rate was greatest at 25oC on potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium amended with up to 2% NaCl (ψs ≤ 1.91 MPa) and thereafter, growth rate declined. The least number of sclerotia were produced at 20oC on both PDA and malt extract agar (MEA) amended with 8% NaCl (ψs=6.62 MPa). With increasing temperature and decreasing... -
The Effects of Temperature, pH, and Bactericides on the Growth of Erwinia pyrifoliae and Erwinia amylovora
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 5 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2005, 21권 2호 8 127-131 (5 pages)
temperature,pH, and bactericides on the growth of Erwinia pyrifoliae and Erwinia amylovora were investigated. The maximum temperature for the growth of both Erwinia species was estimated to be 36oC. The maximum specific growth rates of E. pyrifoliae and E. amylovora were observed at 27oC and 28oC, respectively, and no significant growth differences were shown at their optimum temperatures. However, at lower temperatures ranging from 12-21oC, E. pyrifoliae showed higher growth rates with doubling... -
Soft Rot of Onion Bulbs Caused by Pseudomonas marginalis Under Low Temperature Storage
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 5 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2002, 18권 4호 5 199-203 (5 pages)
Soft rot occurred severely in onion bulbs stored under low temperature (5℃) in storage houses at Changyoung, Kyungnam province, Korea in early 2000. Water-soaking and yellowish-brown lesions initially appeared on the outside scales of diseased onion bulbs, gradually progressing into the inside scales. Among the bacterial isolates obtained from the lesions, K-2 isolate was found to be responsible for the disease, which grew at a temperature range of from 0º to 36℃ with optimum temperature of...
