Changes in pain, swelling, and range of motion according to physical therapy intervention after total knee arthroplasty in elderly patients
Eun-Kyung Noh, Chang-Sik An 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 8 Pages
4 79-86 (8 pages)
out to compare changes in pain, swelling and range of motion (ROM) between the two groups according to physical therapy intervention. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: There were a total of 20 elderly subjects ages 65-75 years old who have been admitted to the hospital for a total knee arthroplasty. After surgery, the experimental group (n=10) carried out quadriceps femoris muscle strengthening exercise, hamstring stretching exercises and gastrocnemius stretching exercise with a... -
Relationship between anticipatory postural adjustment of the trunk, dual tasks and physical performance with chronic stroke survivors
Won Jeong Hwang, Min Kwon Cho, Yi-jung Chung 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 5 Pages
8 44-48 (5 pages)
investigate the relationship between anticipatory postural adjustment (APA), single task, dual tasks and physical performances. The trunk muscles of APA consist of bilateral erector spinae (ES) and bilateral internal oblique (IO) adnominal muscles, during rapid stepping with the affected or unaffected leg in a sitting posture. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: In patients with chronic stroke, electrodes of surface electromyography (EMG) were attached on the bilateral erector spinae (ES),... -
Can prosthetic limbs made too quickly cause kidney damage?

used in prosthetic sockets causes off-gassing that would penetrate the skin and cause damage to the kidneys or blood. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: In this research, the off-gassing effects during the initial curing process of styrene monomer, vinyl ester resin, epoxy methacrylate resin, benzene-1, 3-dimethaneamine, trimethylhexanedlamine, and paratertiarybutylphenol were analyzed. Acid detection strips were placed inside newly fabricated mock-prosthetic sockets and left overnight in a... -
Effects of cardiac biological activities on low-intensity physical training in doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity rat models
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 5 Pages
5 107-111 (5 pages)
Objective: In the present study, we investigated the protective effects of low-intensity treadmill training in doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity rat models. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: In this study, we randomly divided them into four groups. The normal group included non-cardiotoxicity normal control (n=10), the control group included non-treadmill training after doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity (n=10), the experimental group I included low-intensity treadmill training (3... -
The effect of physical training on glutamate transporter expression in an experimental ischemic stroke rat model
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 5 Pages
5 87-91 (5 pages)
included non-occlusion sham controls (n=10), Group II included non-physical training after MCAO (n=10), and Group III included rats that were subjected to physical training after MCAO (n=10). Rats in the physical training group underwent treadmill training, which began at 24 h after MCAO and continued for 14 consecutive days. The training intensity was gradually increased from 5 m/min on the first day to 12 m/min on day 3, and it was maintained until day 14. Focal cerebral ischemia was examined... -
The effects of virtual reality-based physical therapy in stroke patients
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 5 Pages
2 7-11 (5 pages)
in life to patients. This paper appraises and describes basic concepts of the virtual reality (VR) based exercise program to improve functional movement for neurologically impaired patients. Design: Review article. Methods: Stroke patients from the physical therapy department while wearing comfortable clothing receive therapy and also VR based motion therapy administered by the therapist in charge. After evaluation of stroke patients, therapy includes an exercise program that is suitable for use... -
The association of Hsp90 expression induced by aspirin with anti-stress damage in chicken myocardial cells
Xiao-hui Zhang, Huai-sen Zhu, Zhuang Qian, Shu Tang, Di Wu, Nicole Kemper, Joerg Hartung, En-dong Bao 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
5 35-44 (10 pages)
We assayed pathological damage, expression and distribution of Hsp90 protein and hsp90 mRNA expression in chicken heart tissues after oral administration of aspirin following exposure to high temperature for varying times. Heat stress induced increases in plasma aspartate aminotransferase, creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase activities while causing severe heart damage, which was characterized by granular and vacuolar degeneration, nuclear shrinkage and even myocardium fragmentation in... -
Ursolic acid supplementation decreases markers of skeletal muscle damage during resistance training in resistance-trained men: a pilot study
HyunSeokBang, DaeYunSeo, YoungMinChung, DoHyungKim, Sam-JunLee, SungRyulLee, Hyo-BumKwak, TaeNyunKim, MinKim, Kyoung-MoOh, YoungJinSon, San 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages

underwent RT alone showed no significant change in body composition and markers of skeletal muscle damage, whereas RT+UA group showed slightly decreased body weight and body fat percentage and slightly increased lean body mass, but without statistical significance. In addition, UA supplementation significantly decreased the BNP, CK, CK-MB, and LDH levels (p<0.05). In conclusion, UA supplementation alleviates increased skeletal muscle damage markers after RT. This finding provides evidence for... -

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2014, Vol.18 No.5 10 419-423 (5 pages)
(Hb) was significantly decreased in the NEG (p<.05) only 2 hours after the race. Although cardiac troponin T (cTnT) was significantly increased in the EG but not in the NEG 2hours after the race (p<.05), there was no group-by-time interaction. cTnT was completely recovered in both groups 7 days after the race. In conclusion, cardiac damage occurs during a triathlon race and, is greater in elite than in non-elite. However, all cardiac damage markers return to normal range within 1 week. -

10 Pages
3 41-50 (10 pages)
a difference in the brain connectivity in mental practice and physical performance of training bilateral upper extremity function. Method: The subject performed activities involving mental tasks and physical exercise for bilateral upper extremity functioning during each phase of EEG measurements. The subject performed a symmetrical task(lifting a box and placing it back) that involved moving both arms at the same time and an asymmetrical task(opening and closing a bottle cap) in order to perform...
