Thickness of cumulus cell layer is a significant factor in meiotic competence of buffalo oocytes
Hassan M. Warriach, Kazim R. Chohan 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 3호 10 247-251 (5 pages)
co-cultured with cumulus cells (34.5%) but did not differ from oocytes having 1-2 layers of cumulus cells (51.4%). The degeneration rates were higher (p < 0.05) for oocytes with partial or no cumulus cells (51%) than rest of the groups (range: 13.8% to 17.4%). These results suggest that buffalo oocytes with intact layers of cumulus cells show better IVM rates than oocytes without cumulus cells and the co-culture of poor quality oocytes with cumulus cells improves their meiotic competence. -

Establishment and identification of cell lines from type O blood Korean native pigs and their efficiency in supporting embryonic development via somatic cell nuclear transfer
Anukul Taweechaipaisankul, Geon A Kim, Jun-Xue Jin, Su Cheong Yeom, Byeong Chun Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2018, 제 19권 제 4호 3 492-499 (8 pages)
of blood type O, genomic DNA, fucosyltransferase (FUT) expression, and immunofluorescence staining were examined. Additionally, fluorescence-activated cell sorting and somatic cell nuclear transfer were performed to investigate the normality of the cell lines and to evaluate their effectiveness in embryo development. We found no significant bands corresponding to specific blood group A, and no increase in FUT expression in cell lines derived from piglets No. 1, No. 4, No. 5, No. 8, and the adult... -
Improved development of somatic cell cloned bovine embryos by a mammary gland epithelia cells in vitro model

cells in vitro model by the adenovirus-mediated telomerase (hTERT-bMGEs). The present study was conducted to confirm whether hTERT-bMGEs were effective target cells to improve the efficiency of transgenic expression and somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). To accomplish this, a mammary-specific vector encoding human lysozyme and green fluorescent protein was used to verify the transgenic efficiency of hTERT-bMGEs, and untreated bovine mammary gland epithelial cells (bMGEs) were used as a... -
Rapamycin treatment during in vitro maturation of oocytes improves embryonic development after parthenogenesis and somatic cell nuclear transfer in pigs
Joohyeong Lee, Jong-Im Park, Jung Im Yun, Yongjin Lee, Hwanyul Yong, Seung Tae Lee, Choon-Keun Park, Sang-Hwan Hyun, Geun-Shik L 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2015, 제 16권 제 3호 16 373-380 (8 pages)
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of rapamycin treatment during in vitro maturation (IVM) on oocyte maturation and embryonic development after parthenogenetic activation (PA) and somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) in pigs. Morphologically good (MGCOCs) and poor oocytes (MPCOCs) were untreated or treated with 1 nM rapamycin during 0–22 h, 22–42 h, or 0–42 h of IVM. Rapamycin had no significant effects on nuclear maturation and blastocyst formation... -
In vitro development of canine somatic cell nuclear transfer embryos in different culture media

of canine somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) embryos. Canine cloned embryos were cultured in modified synthetic oviductal fluid (mSOF), porcine zygote medium-3 (PZM-3), or G1/G2 sequential media. Our results showed that the G1/G2 media yielded significantly higher morula and blastocyst development in canine SCNT embryos (26.1% and 7.8%, respectively) compared to PZM-3 (8.5% and 0%) or mSOF (2.3% and 0%) media. In conclusion, this study suggests that blastocysts can be produced more efficiently... -
Identification of abnormal gene expression in bovine transgenic somatic cell nuclear transfer embryos
Jongki Cho, Sungkeun Kang, Byeong Chun Lee* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2014, 제 15권 제 2호 8 225-231 (7 pages)
This study was conducted to investigate the expression of three genes related to early embryonic development in bovine transgenic cloned embryos. To accomplish this, development of bovine transgenic somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) embryos was compared with non-transgenic embryos. Next, mRNA transcription of three specific genes (DNMT1, Hsp 70.1, and Mash2) related to early embryo development in transgenic SCNT embryos was compared between transgenic and non-transgenic SCNTs, parthenogenetic... -
Mitochondrial and DNA damage in bovine somatic cell nuclear transfer embryos
In-Sun Hwang, Hyo-Kyung Bae, Hee-Tae Cheong 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 3호 1 235-240 (6 pages)
bovine somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) embryos were examined. Bovine enucleated oocytes were electrofused with donor cells and then activated by a combination of Ca-ionophore and 6-dimethylaminopurine culture. The H2O2 and ·OH radical levels, mitochondrial morphology and membrane potential (ΔΨ), and DNA fragmentation of SCNT and in vitro fertilized (IVF) embryos at the zygote stage were analyzed. The H2O2 (35.6 ± 1.1 pixels/embryo) and ·OH radical levels (44.6 ± 1.2 pixels/embryo) of...
