Gender Differences in Alcohol Advertising’s Influence on Young People’s Positive Expectancies about Drinking
36 Pages
2014, Vol.10 2 39-74 (36 pages)
This study examined gender and interpersonal communication role in the influence of alcohol advertising on young people’s drinking. Recent studies found that interpersonal communication mediates the effects of alcohol advertising and discourages students to adopt more positive expectancies of drinking. This study tested whether the mediating influence is contingent on the two genders. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires with a cross-sectional survey of undergraduate... -

that Hmong Americans had lower levels of an intentions to drink of those under the legal drinking age, and developed fewer alcohol-related expectancies. MANOVA also indicated strong association between exposure to persuasive media message (i.e., media and alcohol advertising) and positive expectancies on drinking in Caucasian students. For school administrators this study offers some suggestions for enhancing drinking intervention campaigns, as well as recommendations for future research. -

1 1-10 (10 pages)
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether motor imagery training (MIT) combined with physical training could have a positive influence on brain waves in stroke patients. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Twenty-four survivors of a first-time stroke participated in the study. All patients were randomly assigned to one of two groups: (1) MIT group (n=12) and (2) control group (n=12). The MIT group participated in a total of 30 minutes of motor imagery (MI) on each... -

diabetic rats. Six-week-old Zucker diabetic fatty (ZDF) and Zucker lean control (ZLC) rats were selected and randomly divided into Al- and non-Al-groups. Al was administered via drinking water for 10 weeks, after which the animals were sacrificed at 16 weeks of age. ZDF rats in both Al- and non-Al-groups showed increases in body weight and blood glucose levels compared to ZLC rats. Al exposure did not significantly affect body weight, blood glucose levels or pancreatic β-cells and morphology of... -

Katharine Roque, Kyung-Min Shin, Ji-Hoon Jo, Hyoung-Ah Kim, Yong Heo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
6 173-177 (5 pages)
Hazardous biochemical agents in animal husbandry indoor environments are known to promote the occurrence of various illnesses among workers and animals. The relationship between endotoxin levels in dust collected from chicken farms and various immunological markers was investigated. Peripheral blood was obtained from 20 broiler chickens and 20 laying hens from four different chicken farms in Korea. Concentrations of total or respirable dust in the inside the chicken farm buildings were measured... -
Studies on mastitis, milk quality and health risks associated with consumption of milk from pastoral herds in Dodoma and Morogoro regions, Tanzania
Esron D. Karimuribo, Lughano J. Kusiluka, Robinson H. Mdegela, Angolwisye M. Kapaga, Calvin Sindato, Dominic M. Kambarage 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
7 213-221 (9 pages)
The prevalence of mastitis, milk quality and health risks associated with milk consumption were investigated on 96 randomly selected traditional herds in Dodoma rural and Mvomero districts of Tanzania. Mastitis was investigated based on clinical signs, microbiology and California mastitis test (CMT), while milk quality was evaluated using total viable count (TVC)and total coliform count (TCC). Animals were tested for tuberculosis using a single comparative intradermal tuberculin test. The...
