on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) addresses these issues and specifically outlines the right to education for persons with disabilities. In this presentation I will discuss the right to education in international law generally and then review the CRPD’s inclusive education provision. Thereafter, I will address the benefits of inclusive education. I will conclude by providing recommendations to States Parties to facilitate the transition to an inclusive education system. -

in early childhood settings. Despite this changing landscape there is a lack of support for bilingual children enrolled in early childhood settings as many children do not receive any assistance to maintain their home language. This study examined the understanding and perceptions of two monolingual and two bilingual early childhood educators in NSW on how to best support bilingual children. Four early childhood educators (two monolingual and two bilingual) from two different Early Childhood... -

assessment tools to identify children timely. This literature review examines the extant literature related to assessment methods used for identification of children for early intervention/early childhood special education (EI/ECSE) services in four settings: China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Turkey. Search criteria for the study started with peer-reviewed articles, published in English between 2008 and 2019. In addition to the peer-reviewed article search, government reports and technical evaluatio... -

in Early Childhood Education (ECE) settings in Bangladesh. A social justice theoretical approach framed the design of the research, and data were collected in two locales namely rural and urban areas in Rajshahi Division, Bangladesh. This study followed the case study methods, and findings suggest that there were differences among the rural and urban areas and in parental aspiration, beliefs and practices in ECE in Bangladesh. Inclusive Education and Communication Impairment in Early Childhood: A Perspective from Japan
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 15 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2019, Vol.13 No.3 2 9-23 (15 pages)
In this article I argue that notions from special education research in the West, such as individualized education and early intervention, are increasingly globally pervasive but may not be taken up in expected ways. I share a close read of an interview I conducted with a preschool director in Japan, exploring her perspectives on intervention for children with mild communication impairments. In an analysis of our conversation, I explore themes of purposeful restraint from intervention,... -

In the current literature, Korean pre-service English teachers’ attitudes toward English as an academic lingua franca (ELFA), have been underexplored even though they are considered an influential group in terms of social acquisition of English in South Korea. This paper is to explore pre-service English teachers’ attitudes and behavioral intentions regarding the use of English as a lingua franca in the South Korean academic setting. A survey method was used to collect data from 65 pre-service... -
20 Pages
5 79-98 (20 pages)
