In this present study, we have developed a rapid, simple genotyping method that could be used to differentiate the RSV-RNA genome subtypes and to facilitate easy monitoring of the RSV strains currently circulating in the field. Data collected using this technique have confirmed the origin of migratory SBPHs caught in Jeonbuk and Chungnam provinces and showed evidence of the mechanism of genetic... M and T isolates. We also found that the migratory small brown planthopper from Eastern China caught by aerial net traps that possesses RSVRNA3 genotypes corresponds mainly to Eastern China, with a few for Southwestern China based on RT-PCR/ RE, sequence and phylogenetic analyses, indicating that RSV populations in Eastern China may also have strong RNA variation.
