a small fraction of that diversity has been evaluated for their biopesticide potential. To date, the criteria for sampling and selection in such bioprospecting endeavors have not been systematically evaluated in terms of the relative amount of diversity they provide for analysis. The present study aimed to enhance the success of bioprospecting efforts by increasing the diversity while removing the genotypic redundancy often present in large collections of bacteria. We developed a multivariate... -

Bovine mastitis is an infectious disease with a major economic influence on the dairy industry worldwide. Many factors such as environment, pathogen, and host affect susceptibility or resistance of an individual cow to bovine mastitis. Recently, there has been considerable interest in defining genetic and immunological markers that could be used to select for improved disease resistance. In this study we have analyzed the lymphocyte subpopulations of mastitis-resistant and susceptible cows using... -

As sessile organisms, plants are exposed to persistently changing stresses and have to be able to interpret and respond to them. The stresses, drought, salinity, chemicals, cold and hot temperatures, and various pathogen attacks have interconnected effects on plants, resulting in the disruption of protein homeostasis. Maintenance of proteins in their functional native conformations and preventing aggregation of non-native proteins are important for cell survival under stress. Heat shock proteins... -

II. Analysis using the complete CP amino acid sequence showed one clade with two subgroups, IA and IB, with Iranian isolates in both subgroups. The nucleotide diversity within each subgroup was very low, but higher between the two clades. No correlation was found between genetic distance and geographical origin or host species of isolation. Statistical analyses suggested a negative selection and demonstrated the occurrence of gene flow from the isolates in other clades to the Iranian population. -

This paper has prime focus on the query optimization problem in distributed database environment. Query Processing is the major concept involved in distributed system. Data that is dispersed geographically at different locations is too gathered at resulting user site. There are many different execution actions that lead to same query result but differ in the cost incurred in query processing. We have to consider the execution strategy that yields optimal result. Communication cost is the major... -

Data Aggregation Scheduling in Ubiquitous sensor networks is a major research interest for many researchers with the objective of minimizing the energy consumption. Very little research is carried to schedule the nodes in ubiquitous sensor networks to reduce energy consumption, maximize the throughput, for effective prolonged network lifetime, scalability, and load balancing. Each ubiquitous node in USN should forward data to the base station. In Data Aggregation methods each node need not... -
Fast Nearest-Neighbor Search Algorithms Based on High-Multidimensional Data

인문사회과학기술융합학회 예술인문사회융합멀티미디어논문지 2013, 제 3권 제 1호 3 17-24 (8 pages)
Similarity search in multimedia databases requires an efficient support of nearest-neighbor search on a large set of high-dimensional points as a basic operation for query processing. As recent theoretical results show, state of the art approaches to nearest-neighbor search are not efficient in higher dimensions. In our new approach, we therefore pre-compute the result of any nearest-neighbor search which corresponds to a computation of the voronoi cell of each data point. In the second step, we... -

Gait is a new biometric aimed to recognize a subject by the manner in which they walk. Gait has several advantages over other biometrics, most notably that it is a non-invasive and perceivable at a distance when other biometrics are obscured. We present a new area based metric, called gait masks, which provides statistical data intimately related to the gait of the subject. Early results are promising with a recognition rate of 90% on a small database of human subjects. In addition to this, we... -
The Trend of Body Mass Index (BMI) Changes among Malaysian Children and the Prediction at 48 Months Old

Overweight and underweight are common issues among children in Malaysia and thus, Malaysian government has launched several campaigns to combat these problems. Previous research show that BMI at certain age could be predicted earlier so that early intervention can be initiate. Most of the study are very specific to some locality and certain ethnic, make it hard to generalize to the whole Malaysian. This research aims to investigate significant positive predictors of changes in Body Mass Index... -

Pupils who feel good about their reading abilities tend to perform better in school. Research has shown that picture books will contribute to pupils taking the initiative to read. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of picture books on reading self-perception among Year Two pupils at a National-type Chinese Primary School in Hulu Selangor. This study employed a quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test designs that involved 75 pupils and four picture books, namely,... -

best support bilingual children. Four early childhood educators (two monolingual and two bilingual) from two different Early Childhood Centres in Australia were interviewed and asked about their knowledge and beliefs regarding bilingualism. Results showed bilingual educators to be more positive and knowledgeable about bilingualism. All educators acknowledged challenges of not being able to communicate with children and their families as they did not speak any English. Participants in this study... -

Yi Hyun Sook, Park Sejin 한국교육학회 교육학연구 27 Pages
한국교육학회 교육학연구 2022, 60권 3호 1 1-27 (27 pages)
Teacher education programs must provide opportunities for student teachers to explore their teaching aptitude early in the program and help them to strengthen their areas of weaknesses to prepare them for the realities of teaching. This study employed the cognitive diagnostic assessment framework, which is known to be effective in providing profiles of multidimensional and inter-related attributes, such as the teaching aptitude. The attribute mastery profiles of 1,111 participants from 6 South... -

Secured Data Aggregation Scheduling in Ubiquitous sensor networks is a major research problem nowadays. Since the sensors communicate wirelessly, they are exposed to a high level of vulnerability from the intruders. Quantum key distribution is a technique that is used nowadays for providing security. Though the secure keys are used for short distances only, it offers many advantages over traditional methods in providing security. Quantum key distribution adopts many methods like entanglement...
