3 59-78 (20 pages)
John Dewey s lifelong attention to religious themes found expression in his 1934 book A Common Faith. Among the pragmatic themes he developed there are that: a) human experience left to develop without outside interference is capable of generating ideals and values, and b) beliefs that are true, including religious beliefs, are so only when they have been tested in the laboratory of experience. Rather than choose among the world s religions, Dewey emphasized the religious quality that... -

education system of any nation today. On the contrary, with the advancement of modern science and technology, materialism and consumerism are on the rise, and spirituality and character development have taken a back seat. Adult society is obsessed with the acquisition of things, rather than with questions of personal integrity and morality, and young people are taking their cues from the example of their elders. For the large majority of humanity religion is compelling motive for leading a moral... -

There are various perspectives on the roles and functions of museums. In modern times, socio-educational functions of museums are the most emphasized. Most museums offer programs for schools, but teachers still prefer not to visit them. The reason why teachers feel pressured to visit a museum is that they lack knowledge about museum exhibits. Also, it takes too much time and energy for individual teachers to reconstruct the curriculum in conjunction with museum exhibits. The link with the school... -
