인간을 대상으로 하거나 참여하는 실험 연구는 윤리적, 법적으로 민감한 문제이다. 아동은 오랜 동안 실험 연구에서 제대로 보호되지 못해 왔다. 하지만 아동과 같이 취약한 집단에 대해서는 보다 특별한 보호가 필요하다는 인식이 생겼고, 따라서 실험 연구에서 아동을 보호하기 위한 지침과 정책들이 발전되어 왔다. 그 가운데 가장 발전된 미국 연방 규정을 중심으로 주요 주제에 대해 논의하고, 최근에 논의되고 있는 문제점과 국내에서의 적용가능성에 대해 제안하였다.
