This study was to explore possibility of educating views of living things based on history of biology in
science curriculum. What views students get to have on living things in the process of learning biology,
whose study subject is creatures, is an important issue in biology education. Individuals' views of living
things are the most basic standard of judgment in their decision making and therefore those views should
be drawn attention to in biology education. Therefore Research Questions are following. (1) What are the
views of life or living things? (2) What are the cases which express each era's views of living things in
the history of science? Therefore diverse views of living things that emerged in the development process of
biology were theoretically analyzed. Also cases in the history of biology were collected through research on
literature on views of living things. Based on curriculum contents and processes revised in 2009, learning
topics were reviewed and among them those considered to be enabling the education of views of living
things were selected. In Korean science curriculum the origin of life is almost totally based on evolutionist
views. Therefore efforts are needed to approach the essence of science by understanding diverse viewpoints
on the origin of life. If the various anecdote of the history of science is utilized for the science class, the
understanding of the learner about the essence of the life and origin will be able to be enhanced. The
effort to utilize the history of science for this purpose has to get accomplished continuously. If the various
