Bulk graphite: materials and manufacturing process
Sang-Min Lee, Dong-Su Kang and Jea-Seung Roh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 12 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.3 1 135-146 (12 pages)
Graphite can be classified into natural graphite from mines and artificial graphite. Due to its outstanding properties such as light weight, thermal resistance, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, chemical stability, and high-temperature strength, artificial graphite is used across various industries in powder form and bulk form. Artificial graphite of powder form is usually used as anode materials for secondary cells, while artificial graphite of bulk form is used in steelmaking... -
Mechanisms of Na adsorption on graphene and graphene oxide: density functional theory approach
Hye Sook Moon, Ji Hye Lee, Soonchul Kwon, Il Tae Kim, Seung Geol Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.2 7 116-120 (5 pages)
We investigated the adsorption of Na on graphene and graphene oxide, which are used as anode materials in sodium ion batteries, using density functional theory. The adsorption energy for Na on graphene was -0.507 eV at the hollow sites, implying that adsorption was favorable. In the case of graphene oxide, Na atoms were separately adsorbed on the epoxide and hydroxyl functional groups. The adsorption of Na on graphene oxide-epoxide (adsorption energy of -1.024 eV) was found to be stronger than... -
Carbon nanotubes synthesis using diffusion and premixed flame methods: a review
Garima Mittal, Vivek Dhand, Kyong Yop Rhee, Hyeon-Ju Kim and Dong Ho Jung 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.1 1 1-10 (10 pages)
a combustion method for the production of metal oxide nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, and other related carbon nanostructures, over the existing conventional methods. Flame synthesis is an energyefficient, scalable, cost-effective, rapid and continuous process, where flame provides the necessary chemical species for the nucleation of carbon structures (feed stock or precursor) and the energy for the production of carbon nanostructures. The production yield can be optimized by altering various... -
Preparation and application of reduced graphene oxide as the conductive material for capacitive deionization
Ayu Tyas Utami Nugrahenny, Jiyoung Kim, Sang-Kyung Kim, Dong-Hyun Peck, Seong-Ho Yoon, Doo-Hwan Jung 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.1 5 38-44 (7 pages)
applied voltage. RGO can be synthesized in an inexpensive way by the reduction and exfoliation of GO, and removing the oxygen-containing groups and recovering a conjugated structure. GO powder can be obtained from the modification of Hummers method and reduced into RGO using a thermal method. The physical and electrochemical characteristics of RGO material were evaluated and its desalination performance was tested with a CDI unit cell with a potentiostat and conductivity meter, by varying the... -
Hierarchical porous carbon nanofibers via electrospinning
Aikifa Raza, Jiaqi Wang, Shan Yang, Yang Si, Bin Ding 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 14 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.1 1 1-14 (14 pages)
Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) with diameters in the submicron and nanometer range exhibit high specific surface area, hierarchically porous structure, flexibility, and super strength which allow them to be used in the electrode materials of energy storage devices, and as hybrid-type filler in carbon fiber reinforced plastics and bone tissue scaffold. Unlike catalytic synthesis and other methods, electrospinning of various polymeric precursors followed by stabilization and carbonization has become a... -
