During the period of 5years from July 1959 to June 1964, 210 cases of myelographic studies were performed at Seoul National University Hospital. The roentgenographic findings, clinical symptoms, operative findings in connection with histo-pathological findings of these 210 cases were analyzed and following conclusions were obtained. 1. The sex ratio of the material was 138 male to 72 female patients. 2. Most of the patients had myelographic study within one year after the onset of their symptoms. 3. The most frequent disease entity was the herniated intervertebral disc disease, consisting 62.8%, followed by spinal tumors 24.8% and micellaneous disease 12.4% respectively. 4. Among the 132 cases of herniated intervertebral disc disease, consisted of the unilateral defect 43.2%, central defect 41.7% and bilateral defect 15.1% respectively. 5. Among the 132 cases of herniated intervertebral disc disease, the greatest incidence was the 4th lumber intervertebral disc space 59.8%, followed by 1st sacral intervertebral disc space 31.8% and 3rd lumber interbvertebral disc space 6/8% respectively. 6. Two cases of cervical intervertebral disc lesion located in the 5th and 6the cervical intervertebral disc spaces were found among the 132 cases of herniated intervertebral disc disease. 7. The spinal tumors were 52 cases and the most common site of tumor was in thoracic region 57.7%, followed by lumbar region 28.9%, cervical resion11.5% and sacral region 3.9% respectively. 8. These 52 cases of intraspinal tumors were diveded into intradural tumors 46.1% composed of intremedullary 9.6%, extram dullary 36.5%, and extradural tumors 53.9%. 9. The most common tuor was metastatic tmors 28.9%, neurofibroma 19.2%, tuberculoma 11.6%, malignant lymphoma, paragonimiasis and miscellaneous disease composed 7.7% each and meningioma 5.8%, lipoma 3.8% and 1 case each of mueloma, chordoma and teratoma were seen.
