So called "early gastric carcinoma" is defined as the gastric carcinoma confined in mucosa and submucosa of the stomach, regardless of its extension and metastasis, and its importance consists in its excellent prognosis. Therefored the early detection of this early gastric carcinomal is the best measure to minimize the mortality from gastric carcinoma until now and the roentgenologic study, gastroscopic examination, exfoliative cyotology, and biopsy are practisized for this purpose. Here four cases of early gastric carcinoma are presented, which were diagnosed with roentgenographic and gastroscopic examination and were confirmed pathologically at Seoul National University Hospital during recent two years, and the review of literatures is carried out.rried out.
