솔잎혹파리의 유충을 포식하는 것으로 밝혀진 지주류들의 포식여부를 Precipitin test를 이용하여 확인하였다. 본 실험에서는 솔잎혹파리 유충의 추출물을 토끼에게 주사하여 만든 항혈청과 지주류의 장물질을 반응시켰다. 본 실험에서 조사한 지주류는 Lycosidae 6종, Clubionidae 3종, Pysauridae 2종, Gnaphosidae 2종, Salticidae 2종이며, 그 결과는 Lycosidae의 Lycosa lugubris가 가장 높은 포식률을 나타내었고 Salticidae의 Hysaurius crucifer는 포식을 하지 않는 것으로 나타났다.
a) Possible predator of the pine-needle gall-midge were studied using the precipitin test. This identifies the pine-needle gall-midge in the gut of a recently fed predator by its reaction with antibodies in the serum of rabbits which have been injected with an extract of the pine-needle gall-midge. b) The gut contents of 1,477 predators were tested, and six species of Lycosidae, there Clubionidae, two Pysauridae, two Gnaphosidae, one Salticidae were shown to feed on larvae of the pine-needle gall-midge. And a species of Lycosidae, Lycosa lugubris, showed the highest percent of the predatory reaction of the pine-needle gall-midge. c) After 10 May the percent of the predatory reaction of the pine-needle gall-midge decreased, in other words, spiders seem to prey upon the pine-needle gall-midge of the larval stage. Therefore spiders of the ground surface seem to give so greatly an affection of the population of the pine-needle gall-midge in April.
