미국흰불나방의 난황단백질을 성숙난소로부터 추출하였으며 전기영동법을 사용하여 난황의 구성성분 및 난황단백질의 분자량을 구하였다. 3개의 주요 난황단백질의 밴드가 나타났는데, 이들은 각각 lipid, carbohydrate를 함유하고 있으며, 특히 phospholipid가 두드러지게 나타났다. 난황단백질의 native 분자량은 난황단백질 1이 160k이었고, 난황단백질 2는 79k이었다. 난황단백질의 구성소단위는 난황단백질 1이 1개의 large subunit와 2개의 small subunit로 구성되었으며, 이들의 분자량이 52.5k (large subunit), 36k (small subunit), 그리고 34.5k (small subunit)인데 반해 난황단백질 2는 1개의 large subunit로 구성되었으며, 이의 분자량은 38.5k 이었다.
The yolk proteins of Hyphantria cunea were extracted from the maturing ovaries and the composition and the molecular weights of yolk proteins were determined using electrophoresis. In disc electrophoresis, adult female reveals three major york proteins and these proteins all show the positive reactions with PAS, Sudan black, and methyl green. The native molecular weights of yolk proteins were found to be 160 K and 79 K for yolk protein 1(YP 1) and yolk protein 2(YP 2) respectively.
