Of patients examines during the 24 years from January 1963 to December 1986 we have reviewed 6116 cases of gastric cancer We found 126 cases of gastric carcinoma in patients below 30 years of ge among 6116 cases of gastric malignancy which were confirmed by histopathological study at PMC in Chonju. In an attempt to identify further the natural history of carcinoma of the stomach in young adults we reviewed 126 cases of stomach carcinoma in patients below 30 years of age at PMC. The results were as follows : 1. Among the gastric malignancies the incidence of gastric carcinoma in young adults was 2.1% 2. The age ranged from 13 years to 29 years ＆ the peak incidence occurred in the 3rd decade. 3. male to female ratio was 1:1.03 4. Common symptons included epigastric pain indigestion weight loss and vomiting. The mean time interval between onset of symptoms ＆ the 1st visit to a physician was 12 months. 5 Usually diagnostic aids were UGI series endoscopic examination ＆ biopsy. 6. In the endoscopic findign Borrmamn type III was predominet 7. the majority of tumors occurred in the antrum ＆ Pyloric portion 8. Histologic diagnosis were adenocarcinoma signet ring cell carcinoma ＆ mucinous cardinoma in orders.
