Authors measured the long and the short diameters of both internal jugular veins on the neck computed tomogram of 70 normal subjects. Asymmetry of the diameter of both internal jugular veins was common. The diameter of the right internal jugular vein was greater than that of the left vein in 43 % and versa in 14% The diameter of the jugular veins increased with aging. There was no sex difference.
