In this paper we review the papers related to statistical consulting. The three main objectives of the statistical consulting are education, service, and research. It is noticed that not only the statistical aspects but the nonstatistical aspects should be emphasized for the successful statistical consulting. It is concluded that a seperately funded consulting center operated as a division of a department of statistics is the most appropriate way to provide and to quality of education, service, research in the universities.
