The design of a power transmission shaft which has the limited life under cumulative damage and various mean loads was made in consideration of shaft stiffness and shape determination. All procedures were programmed so that one can see the result by connecting to graphic terminal. The diameters of designed shaft are in good agreement with those of a commercial shaft which is manufactured according to the imported design drawing sheets.
