The dynamic behavior of a cable-stayed bridge model subjected to moving load is studied experimentally and numerically. The bridge is modeled using geometric nonlinear frame elements and cable elements with equivalent modulus of elasticity. Nonlinear static and linear dynamic analysis is performed on the assumption that the nonlinearity is negligible at service load condition. The results show that the numerical model with equivalent modulus can accurately predict the dynamic behavior of cable-stayed bridges and is more economic than that with many nonlinear truss elements.
