The finite element method using the Hermitian polynomial as the shape function in order to investigate the static and dynamic stability of the plane frame subjected to conservative and non-conservative forces is presented. By calculating the geometric stiffness matrix for the linearly distributed axial load, load correction stiffness matrix including the effect of direction change of circulatory force, and matrices for the effects of elastic foundation, matrix equation of motion for the plane framed structure is derived and the divergence and flutter loads are determined from this equation.
