67Ga scan are taken between 24 hours to 72 hours after injection because it is known that the peak uptake time in the human skeletal systems is 24 hours to 72 hours and therefore a three day time day time period is needed to get higher quality images. In this study the author investigated the clinical usefulness of early scans at 24 hours which would be more convenient and could replace conventional 72 hours scans. The author had taken scans at either 24 hours or 72 hours after injection of 67 Ga in 110 patients whose diseases were pathologically confirmed and analized gross uptake patterns and lesion/backgroud activity ratios. The arthor designated a positive uptake pattern of lesion when the ratios were above 1.20. In 60 patients(54.6%), either 24 hours and 72 hours scans showed negative uptake patterns. Only in 5patients(4.5%), 24 hours scans were negative in uptake and 72 hours scans were positive in uptake. Among 110 patients, 105 patients(95.5%) showed the same uptake patterns in 24 hours and 72 hours scans without any difference in resolution. The early 67Ga scan taken at 24 hours could omit the conventional 72 hours scan in most cases, if the images of 24 hours scans showed the positive uptake of lesion and had aceptable contrast.
