Reappearance Possiblity of Mode II (Shear mode) fatigue fracture of rail were investigated without special devices and instruments using uniaxial fatigue testing machine, and then macro behavior for Mode II fatigue fracture were compared to results of previous studies. Occurance and growth of Mode II cracks in Double V-notch speimen under uniaxial compressive fatigue test, until cracks arrive to section where is Mode I (opening mode) fracture field, were very similer to fatigue fracture mechanism in rail subject to contact rolling. It is confirmed that uniaxial fatigue test using Double V-notch specimen can be apply to Mode II fatigue test and examine rail fatigue fracture behavior.
