In this research, the basic experiment is accomplished to investigate the adaptibility of the high strength steel as a structural members. H-shaped section which has been widely used for structural steel member was selected. The welded H-section members and the steel types of SS41, SWS50 are chosen by considering domestic situation. The experiment is the coupon test, variable section member test, the stub-column experiment to know the local buckling behavior of the plane elements and beam experiments. The purpose of this study is by these proceses to figure out what kind of mechanic distincts each material has and what influence on the mechnical character of the member they have when the high strength steel as well as mild steel is used for the structural members.
