A method for analyzing the behavior and strength of damaged tubular segment was developed. In developing a reliable and efficient analytical method, finite element analysis on a dented segment was made, and the m-p-${phi}$ relationship for each specific dent geometry was obtained. Then, a database of the relationship of various dent geometries was created. To generalize the relationship between M, P, ${phi}$, D/t, d/D, and (${sigma}_y$, regression analysis was performed. Then, the functional relationship between M(moment) and other parameters was determined. Through the reduction process, the end moment of the dented segment was expressed in terms of axial force and rotation only. This pre-determined M-P-${ heta}$ relationship are used in the numerical integration of the member. Separate comparisons between analytical and experimental results were made for the M-P-${ heta}$ curves of the dented segment.
