This paper proposes an implementation of DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) and IDCT (Inverse DCT) using a fast DCT algorithm with shift and addition operations instead of multiplications Based on the proposed algorithm, a new VLSI architecture for the DCT and the IDCT is proposed.
