There are three types in already established H-beam to S.H.S column joint with diaphragm. That is, diaphragm penetrated type, inside diaphragm and outside diaphragm type have been developed till now. But it is difficult and is complicated to apply light weight building structures. This paper presents several End Plate type connections for the H-beam to S.H.S column joints. The test results are compared with the results of numerical analysis by Yield Line Theory. As a result, the study shows that the End Plate connection could be properly stiffened by selecting the appropriate size of end plate and plug welding.
